Pykie's Turbo Build! UPDATED OCT 28, 2009
As i see alot of people are boosting their 2.2 and what not a better time to start my build then now.
been getting alot of help from Sentry.
What i have:
Evolve Front Mount Intercooler 25"x13"x3" with 3" inlets
GT2871R Turbo 49.2, A/R .86
Wisco 8.9:1 Pistons
Eagle "H" Beams
Cometic Head Gasket
ARP Head Studs
Turbosmart Boost Controller
AEM UGEO Wideband
Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge
Autometer EGT Gauge
Autometer Boost/Vac Gauge
3" Vibrant muffler with custom 3" exhaust and 3" high flow magnoflow cat, and vibrant V-Band
ZZP MAF Adaptor
Clutch Masters Stage 4.4 six puck clutch
Autometer 3 gauge "A" Piller pod
PIT Blow Off Vavle
Vulcan Turbo Manifold
Vulcan Oil Feed Adaptor.
Future Mods:
AIS Stage 1 or 2 trunk Mount kit
Vulcan Turbo Intake Manifold
I started the build not to long ago a little over a week and i started with the strip down.
heres some pics.
then i preassembled the Turbo and then attached the turbo to the manifold
For anyone who has the GT28 turbo and is having a hard time finding a discharge plate for your exhaust go to www.atpturbo.com, i got that any my oil reducer from them.
and some random photos
im making my charge pipe all out of steel pipe, so i can weld it and now worry so much about blowing a cupler or anything and then getting them powder coated.
im runing a 2.5" hot side and a 3" cold side for now, untill i upgrade.
i will keep updating as i go, right now im in a tuff spot, i dont want to remove the turbo from the mani to fit it in place but i might have to.
and i stripped the plug they recommend to use on the back of the block, so i gotta use one of the other ones back there or try vice grips to get this one out.

yea its only $500USD thats not to bad i guess. maybe the CND Dollar will be good again this summer lol and i will buy more stuff.
im building a different motor witch will have the LSJ Head on it (i was told they fit on the L61 block?) and that will be ported and polished and cams and valve terrian.
heres a photo of some of the stuff i had at start.
that was taken before everything was hooked up

nice man .. you could look at a head from http://www.patriot-performance.com/ you will need to make a blocker plate for the EGR but they sell built heads just put in your own cams they flow very well.

oh i thought they keep em in stock lol.
make sure you go out and buy studs for it, cause they dont have them and 9 times out of 10 your not gonna get 4 bolts down into the header with out studs.
i think they are a m10x35 and then you gotta cut them to however long you need them, thats what i did
