no idea, about the waste gate.
and theres no way i can run a nice bend there is no room at all!
we tried and thats a no go. so we had to do what we did.
and thats how its gonna stay till i upgrade the turbo this summer, sucks but oh well.
and even with it being like that now, its up agenst hoses and wires and bull **** so we gotta zip tie them back, and wrap the dp

after talking to a few other people, if i leave the dp like that i will kill the turbo.
man this is gay!
for some reason there is NO room at ALL back there!
and muffler shops around here do not have mandrel bent angels.

**** it, i just called around to get a DP made, no muffler shop will deal with a turbo, dunno why..
so i just talked to a buddy who owns a dyno and a performance shop, he has a 98 cavi with a swaped 3800 S/C in it but he removed the S/C and put a turbo on it, and he said he will come by and help me out withthe DP, but you know i think im gonna say **** it! and buy a GT35 now, instead of waiting. and to that.

Um....I cant even imagine how that pipe is oriented under the car....where is the turbo outlet?

Why do you need those crazy bends? Good for you for trying your hand, but I think youve made the right decision to have a pro do it.

maven his turbo outlet is a 3" vband, and it exit facing the driverrside, so it makes a sharp 90* turn down than out to go to the catback

Is that 3" piping? If so, no wonder it was a tight fit. Get one made and just run 2.5" like mine and weld it into 3".

As far as the wastegate, you need to get me a pic of that thing right now, with a model number or something. Ditch the boost controller for now, if your wastegate's spring is set for more than 8-10 psi then you're in trouble. Adding a manual boost controller is only going to set you up for disaster if it's not set properly. You could get all this done and take it for a run and boom! A lot of wastegates come with 15- 20 psi springs.

no do not open your internal wastegate, u have to run a boost controller to raise the boost, or buy another wastegate all together, i believe ATPturbo carries them

If it's a good controller, I'd hang onto it. I was just saying that for now you need to figure out how much boost that WG is set to before you start trying to add boost. It may be set to something crazy like 15 psi, which would totally devastate your car, trust me.

Run it without tower what it holds to, dyno it, if it's not enough power, add more boost with the controller,

I'd hold off doing the boost controller just to make things easier. I'm all for doing things one step at a time. When you start doing more then one thing, and you get a problem, it's not as easy to figure out. I'm helping a friend out with a motor build and a turbo kit right now. He's ordering all the parts pretty much at the same time, but we're gonna do the motor first, break it in, make sure it's all good, then do the turbo. One step at a time will pay off in the end. If you try to rush things, thats when you get a paperweight!

the boost controller is easy as pie! you have one hose going into it from the wastegate, and a hose leaving it into the charge pipe where the boost nipple will be, i now have a friend who has a turboed 3800 V6 in his cavi helping out, and hes gonna help with the rest.

What's his username? (I'm assuming he's on the .org) I remember back when I had my old Cavy, reading about someone putting a 3800 into a sunfire. Didn't know it was turbo though. Might be another person though. Still someone who knows their stuff around is helpful!

this is a guy that doesnt really deal with the fourms, and more on the local ones.
hes the 1st person that has ever but the 3800 sc in a cavi, and has won many car shows, and been in many magazines about it.
but he swaped out the sc and put the turbo on

So, all you need to do is figure out the turbo exhaust? Just tow it to an exhaust shop and get it made.
