question about a CAI i installed

ok, i put an AEM CAI in my 2006 cobalt ls, and there is this hose that was connected to the old airbox (the top box) that goes down onto like a fan kinda? and than looks like it gets recirculated through out the engine, i was just wondering if i have to do something with it or if i can just take the damn thing off

I think that is your vacuum hose, and if it is I do believe it should be connected

is this the hose to which you refer, if so you should have received this longer one with your cai. it simply replaces a much shorter one thats on the stock air box. hope this was helpful.[IMG][/IMG]

the hose on the top of your airbox id the hose going to the air pump for the exhaust system. The air pump pumps air into the exhaust system during warm up to assist in emissions. you can cut it down but it shoud still have a filter on it. dont want to suck in any birds hahaha . hope i helped

you can disconnect the battery for a bit it should clear the code ..or get a 25$ code reader/clearer from wal mart ...

it might go away on its own when it gets used to the new fuel map as well

Unhappy

actually just to let you know, the code reader/clearer from wal mart or from any store will not work with the cobalt because it doesnt use the OBD2 system like everyone else. damn technology. our cars use the lan system . only thing that i know of to get rid of that light is unplug your battery for 30 minutes and let the computer forget its adaptives. if that doesnt work....dealer??? thats my $.02 sorry

this also happened when i put mine on, i took it to the dealer and they had it in the back for about an hour. when they brought it out the cel was off and has never came back on(two months). they said that if it came back on i should reinstall the stock airbox or i could have issues with the warranty. i checked my file on their website and it doesnt even list that i ever took the car in. my best advice is disconect the battery and let the computer reset and learn the new setup, im pretty sure thats all they did.

Do the Cobalts ECU, can it even 'learn' Does it have on board RAM or some sort of flash? Why would a batt unplug reset when turning car off not, meaning why doesn't it adjust on the fly for this sort of conditions?
