Question about cams for my 2.2

Hello, I've been searching the forums and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm interested in adding the comp cams to my 06 l61, im just wondering exactly what I'll need to order to complete the entire Process.. Turbo tech claims that the stage 1 cams do not need a tune to work. I'm just wondering what gains I will see stage 1 vs stage 2 (I'm tuning it either way) and what I will need for the whole project

I am not very interested in supercharging or turbo, so don't suggest it
I just want a little more go
Also I have the k&n. Typhoon, OBX headers, magnaflow catback

I would also get valve springs so you can rev higher. Also a downpipe (you didnt list that)

Yeah sadly still using stock DP.. and it looks like the #82 valve springs from zzp are the cheapest, will they work? And would it be a nice and reliable ride with the stage 2 cams, valve springs, tune, and THE DP? Cause this is my DD as well

N/A is almost always reliable. As long as you have a good tune you will be fine. Those valve springs are good too.

Turbo tech, where I will be ordering the cams from, suggested a tuner about an hour away from me.. he uses both hp and trifecta. Thanks for the help! I just wonder whether I should go stage 1 or 2 cause idk the difference in gains and ease of drivability

So hucker.. What did you use to run the stage 2? How much power gain did you see? And what brand of cams are they? I'm very interested in buying your old ones

cam open a valve via a roller. it can have 120K on it and you wont make a difference.

i love it. it around 1,5 car front of a fully mod 2.2. it about 10 real hp that happen around 5400.

you ll lost big low torque due to both EX. and INT. valve open longer and it means less compression. but at higher rpm it pay off.

cam comp stg2.

still run it but i add boost on it.

There's a couple of people running stage 2 comp cams, huck has had them for a long time I think. I've seen people say that you need valve springs and that you don't. Me, if I get around to it I'm gonna go without them. If your gonna go with cams def go stage 2. Not worth the work and money for little gain from stage 1. A 2.4 throttle body will help alot also.

Huck you went up to stage 3? When you do that?

stage one you can just put in and go tune or no tune stage 2 you will need new valve springs and a tune and they are right you will loose low end torque but will get it back on the top end between 3500 and 6500 rpm your a 5 speed that means slipping the clutch more to get it going which = less clutch life going stoplight to stoplight you may be slower on stage 2 then stage one but highway driving you should tell a difference around where l live the city is 35 to 45 mph the stage 2 cams are made for higher rpm power and going that slow around town shouldn't need raped up to 5000 rpm anyways i believe stage 2 cams kick in power at 3000 or 3500 rpm and the way i drive i would be lucky to get that rpm just putting around town

That helped alot.. I didn't think about the rpm power change.. Most of my driving is done in a 25-45 zone.

I'm not really looking for big power, I just want a little more, im really looking for that cammed sound, best sound ever.

well if your just looking for cammed sound then i would just go with stage 1 its not as high rpm power wise and you dont need to change anything as far as the motor plus stage 1 is more street friendly cause the power band.

too much info
no valve spring required. yes it good but you can run safely. i did up to 8000rpm in 1-2 gear.

no clutch issue. i did over 800 pass on ¼. mine died at 100K after a burnout. when you do stupid thing you ll always pay for it.

stoplight to spotlight mean 0-40miles. i m bumper to bumper with a SC 2,8''

just put stg2. there is more + than -. waTATATATATATATATATAT
alex bearclaw ll sell his set for around 350-400 canadian money. brand new is around 500-600

Sub'd. I want to learn French.

jk

This set up sounds pretty cool. Your intake and exhaust will really make it sound great.

Look into the 2.4l intake manifold as well. I thought that yields good results for 2.2s. Also as noted the le5 or lsj tb.

cams are not going to do you any good around the city where its 35 45 mph and everybody car is different not 2 cars built the same is going to blow up the same you may get 100 1//4 passes and your friends cobalt my only see 50 1/4 passes all they are are a ticking time bomb and like the guy said he isnt looking to build big power he just wants the cam sound
