question about header install

how the hell do you get to all the bolts? do i need to buy some kind of tiny torque wrench of whatever its called? i just dont see how that would work, cuz its small you still need leverage. the ones towards the top above the header are easy to get to , but the ones like under and inbetween tubes??? they look impossible!

and also, anyone know the size of wrench i need to get out the 02 sensor? or is there some type of special tool needed.

p.s. yeah those downpipe bolts? insane!

For the O2, I used an adjustable wrench but first disconnect the battery, then unplug the O2 sensor so you dont trigger a CEL. As for the bolts between the tubes on the header. I used a swivel joint extension on my air rachet. Did this to all my past cars. You might have to go back under there in a week to check the bolts are tight again. Heated metal expands and what not. good luck.

FYI A torque wrench is for installing bolts that need to be torqued for insuring a connection.

Your best bet is to have it done professionally. But if you still want to do it yourself buy BG Penetrating Oil from Auto Zone or local Parts Store, And get access to air tools.

You should take pictures and make this into a How-To.

for the hard to reach bolts, what me and my father did was put the wrench on, made sure it was secure, and used the wooden handle from a sledgehammer for leverage... we tried for over an hour to get one tight ass bolt off, wouldn't budge... used the sledgehamer trick and it working with no effort at all..

bolt it on, then drive to the nearest muffler shop

seriously, it cant be much louder than my exhaust is, as long as you dont get on it, and shift below 2200RPM, it wont be incredibly loud

You didnt use a torque wrench to take your bolts out did you? Thats a big NO NO.

And I have access to roughly...20 lifts, heated garage, damn near any tool I would want. So I agree haha to the suckers

if your not comfortable doing it then have a shop do it. I just had my pacesetter welded to a custom downpipe with no cat and it sounds like lighting lol. The easiest way to get the bolts is to have a lift to get under the car. Half of them are reachable from the engine compartment and half underneath the car. Also if you buy the pacesetter header for your car, as long as it is the same as mine, the shop (Exhaust Depot) i went to is starting to make stock downpipes(2.5") and a custom pacesetter header w/ downpipe setup that fits perfectly. I will have pics in a couple days if you want me to show you

the torque wrench is not made to loosen bolts. it can screw it up, its only made to tighten things.

i have a set of ramp that i used to install my cat-back, i was hoping to use it to install the header too. Is there any benefit of running no cat on the 2.2? I can understand running a test pipe on the SS/SC but what about the 2.2? I was thinking of having one made so that I can run it at the track but i don't think it will benifit me too much. The cat is preaty high flowing from factory

A socket wrench, an air impact gun, an air ratchet, a breaker bar.

Only use a torque wrench to install bolts, if you use it do "break" the seal on bolts you'll f*** up the torque wrench, probly to the point where you will need to buy a new one.

i did my entire exhaust swap from header to muffler tip within 2 hours, to get the bolts on the manifold you need a swivle socket adapter, and we used a lift as well, got the downpipe bolts off with a 4 foot socket extension, he pulled it out i hadnt seen it before i was like holy ****, he paid over 70 bucks for it, when i take it back off the car i will try and do a pic tutorial of everything
