Question about tuning

Im considering ordering the Ls2edit tuning software, but i have a few questions about it. Right now i have the p0420 code which is making my car run like ****, because of the header/ downpipe with the highflow cat. Does disabling that code make the car run better? Or just get rid of the light? I am fully bolted, and i just want some tuning software to take advantage of my mods, but with this code, my car just isnt running right.

disabling code will make it so the CEL goes off, disa ling codes dont fix the problem, rather just hide it

The car isnt running bad because of the code, its setting the code because its running bad.

The P0420 has NO EFFECT on the way your car runs, the computer doesnt make any adjustment or take any action when a P0420 sets.

A P0420(as you probably know) is a code for catalytic converter low efficiency, it means the computer has detected the cat cant store enough oxygen to do its job. A cause of cat failure is excessively rich running, you running rich?

Disabling the code with LS2E will stop you from setting the MIL, but it wont/cant solve the problem that caused your cat to fail.

If your car runs good after you disconnect the battery then the most likely cause is a massive rich or lean condition. When you disconnect the battery you clear the fuel trims and the car runs on the standard maps until it has had enough time to monitor and readjust to what it feels is a safe fuel trim. You need to fix your issue, not cover it up.

exactly what i said, it just hides it, it dont fix it, the CEL is just telling what is wrong, but its not causing the problem, deleting it wont make ur cat good

I know JN2, but the important part of my post was that the P0420 also isnt why the car is running bad. Some codes, once set do force the computer to adjust engine performance, etc.....however the P0420 is not one of these "active" type codes, its just there.
