I think machine around where the spring is since its so narrow and the supertechs are a wider spring.dont quote me on that though...

My 2.9 is still going strong...2.8 is ready to be tossed on.

last i heard the supertechs were revised and didn't require any machining but they are only 75# now or something like that

Yeah the rods,pistons,and rod bearings looked really good for having 107,000 miles.If my tensioner wouldn't have went,It would still be running strong today.

Cylinders honed,pistons/rods in/torqued.Heads on but not torqued.Have to get batteries for the torque wrench(snap-on)

Mobil 1 ftw i tried Castrol GTX and got worse mileage than Valvoline...only running Mobil 1 from now on. Never tried that Castrol edge tho! whats your avg econ?

I use mobile 1 synthetic extended performance oil, I'm turbo'd by the way and I get 29 mpg in city/?? hwy

if i try super hard i can hover around 40mpg if i go 60mph

and im all stock

you went from Mobil1(synthetic) to GTX (conventional) of course your going to get worse protection,performance,and mileage. lol. Castrol edge and Castrol titanium are syntec technology(full synthetics).After seeing my bearings,I am die hard Castrol.And mileage? like 22-25 mpg.(e85) and I drive it hard everytime I drive it.

Valvoline is garbage.I put there synthetic in and it sounded like a ninja going apeshit on everything si I drained it immediately.

we have always used valvoline conventional in every car weve ever had and have had no problems.
