Self-Tuning Software available?
I voted yes, of course Id like to have an option, perhaps even a cheaper one when th time comes, but I would have no problems using LS2E if thats all that is out. I would rather have a system that works like HPTs credit system though, as LS2E is retarded expensive if you need to tune more than 4 cars.
well i just got another update from Rick Trudo CEO of SCT, I asked him when they will be offering their software and this is his response
We are working on it now, we normally sell through dealers or WD, but. Yes you will be able to buy through our web site. I will let you know when we are ready
well if it's like the normal setup you'll need to become an sct dealer .. which is like 2k then like 300 for each handset ...
not to mention based on their other products it looks like it'd be 400 for the personal tuner or so and you can only do yourself...

here is an update from SCT
no we dont need to become dealers...thats ussually the way they do it...but they are changing their businees
If you buy the software package you can tune as many cars as you want, but will need a X3 device for each car. We sell tuner, we sell to dealers at a wide range of pricing depending on quantity, and to the end packet it is somewhere around $379

I have no problem spending $379 and it only working on my car, but if its over $499 it better be comparably priced to HPT.
Looking forward to this as I feel I may have some tinkerin' feelins' comin on.

I would pay up to $350 to get software to tune my own cobalt and since I plan to get another balt I would perfer a discounted rate to tune it. Hopefully it is in the same format as Cobb software or K-pro because I am familiar with those two and I would be dyno tuning anyways.
Sidenote, I know I dont have much done to the car, I am refering to the dyno when I eventually let my engine meet a twinscroll

im not too familiar with the SCT software but it looks very similar to the HPT software....im not too worried about it because our Power and Performance course at UTI revolves around the SCT software and we will be doing some tuning using that...this way i will be more familiar with it before i buy it
I just wish HPTuners would've supported these cars. They make a great product, not to mentiona friend of mine has the software and cable and would probably let me use it for free if I paid for the credits. =(
I voted Maybe.
The reasons I voted maybe.....
1. It would be nice to have a tuning solution available at a moments notice, unless i was fully modded with forced induction this would be useless.
2. I'd rather leave tuning to the people that do this for a living, while still being able to look over settings or get walked through adjustments as needed. doubtful this would come as a combo. Would save Vince a bunch of money though......

example, he needed to tune out my rear 02 sensor code...so he loaded this up, pulled a drop down, and selected the number of times that code has to trip before it throughs it on the dic...easy and no coding haha.
in short, i would rather have vince do it...simply because i would rather have someone with the professional experiance do it and do it right, then maybe **** up the car on my own. i suppose if i could buy the tool and use it for the simple stuff (changing tire size, turning off codes, changing rev limither, changine between tunes he has written, etc) i would do it...but i would still go to him to write the tune for the car itself as far as drivability and afr etc
you can get so much more out of a tune by someone like vince then by hpt

I have an 07 (if you can't tell) and I'd be willing to do my own for the price of $400 or $500...I think that's reasonable considering a re-tune is $50 each time. And it would be great if I could spend the $400 or $500 right now and tune as is (with just intake), then re-tune when I get my exhaust installed. Then again, when I go SC down the road without having to have him (Vince) do all the work himself.
I don't know about others, but to me, that seems like quite a reasonable price. And, for down the road if I wanted to tune it back to stock or do something else, then I could.

i just wanna be able to tune right when i want to instead of having to wait. like if i wanted to go to the track tonight, then boom i can get my car ready instead of havin to wait for a week or 2 depending on how flooded vince is with others
i have a question about how vince does business, when you pay him 250 for the cable and he e-mails you the software, do you have to pay another 250 when you add something to your car that requires a tune like a supercharger?
To my understanding, if it's a small change (say you have intake, header, dp, cat-back and add the 2.4 intake mani and 2.4 TB, then it is a $50 re-tune), but when you go with something bigger like FI, then yes, I believe it's a full-charge re-tune because he's not just tweaking a few things, but re-doing the entire tune.

Yeah, that's my plan...I was going to tune as soon as I have my header/DP, catback on because I want to go for MPG's, then down the road, get it re-tuned when I SC...but now that ZZP has the kit out, I'm going to run un-tuned with basic bolt-ons until I can get the kit, then tune it.
