Short Ram or Cold Air
I am thinking about getting some intake but I dont know what to get...So..I had a couple questions.1
1. What do you have?
2. What do you Prefer?
3. What preforms better?

I recently ordered the Injen Cold Air, but I don't have it installed as of yet. There was some debate about a cold air causing a small delay in power, but I haven't really seen any direct proof.
Downside with SRI is that you will catch the hot engine compartment air after sitting still at a stoplight or such...
Again, very large debate, but little or no evidence to support either (as long as we're talking about a SRI/Cold Air design specifically for the car).

i have the short ram from the numbers ive seen people are getting more from the short ram but i did mine just cause i live in mass and winter here will screw up my filter if its too close to the ground

I wonder if it would be a good idea to use a active ram air hood and SRI? There would be constant venting of engine compartment air, but I'm always weary about the weather w/ ram air....

i have the injen cai...some friends of mine say that the short ram can be louder, but you are sucking in nothing but hot engine air....on a cold night like tonite as soon as i cut my car off i open the hood and touch the intake tube and it is cold as ice even by the radiator hose..so you know it is doing some good.

i haven't had it dynoed but i ran a 15.8 with almost a full tank of gas and some of the other guys on here with LS's are runnin mid to low 16's stock...maybe they can't drive..i dunno. take it for what its worth

with the weather the way it is now, the cai would eat that cool air right up...especially at night time.
On my previous car I started with a short ram and then moved to a cai and I noticed a small gain goin to the cai. There really wasn't anymore delayed throttle response then with the short ram. The cai was just quieter and slightly improved performance.
I would go with the Injen intake...actually I plan to soon.

I have tried both set ups with the Injen intake, and honestly, with the CAI set up, the car was more sluggish, and not as quick to respond. Also felt like I lost mid range and top end power VS. the SRI set up.
My recommendation: Start with the SRI setup, drive with it for about a week or two, then switch to CAI, and see how you feel about it then.

Ok, I saw an intake by either AEM or Injen, and it was both a SRI and CAI. But I cant find it, I think thats what I want to go with. Anybody know of a website with a good price?

I would go with the short ram 100% K+N didn't develop a CAI for a good reason....Its nooo good! Sure it looks pretty...but you will get more of what you want with the Short ram. I would personally go with the wepon R...

and aem only makes the cai.... great argument there............... I chose cai for one reason, I bought one of those litte g-tech performace meters a while back, its just something fun to screw with but surprisingly it is fairly accurate and produces the same results over and over. With my 2.2l auto stock it measured 16.1-16.3 consistanly in the qaurter mile. I had the short ram on for about a week and did the same run every day on the way to work.. (perfect straight farm road to get up to 90 or so).. It definately improved and I was running 15.9-16.2 everytime, when I put the cai on (wich I almost didnt bother living in wny with snow and all) my times improved, the best time I ever ran with the little g-tech was a 15.73 with most being right around 15.8.... this was not due to me improving as a driver because its an auto and I was just mashing it, the only diff was the intake thats it. So I left on the cai.... it won.

I can feel the car is more powerful with the SRI set up, more so than the CAI set up.
But its all good, go with whichever you prefer! I definately recommend getting one that can be converted though!
