skipping the manifold
What, and not upgrading the header/downpipe? It'll get you an incomplete exhaust system, so what would be the point of doing it at all?
Nubers wise, I think maybe 12HP or so, but like I said, what's the point of a freer flowing exhaust if your header and downpipe are still restrictive? Isn't that like upgrading an intake, but not the fuel injectors or sparks?

Since when did you guys have to get different injectors after installing an intake? Getting the cat-back is a great first step, and not everyone wants to go "all the way" with their modding.
thats like asking if you can wear a nice pair of shoes without buying all new clothes. its perfectly ok, not exactly ideal, but there is nothing wrong with it.
its ok to take little steps. if you only do a catback, so what? you obviously aren't going to do a full intake, sheet metal intake manifold, big throttle body, heads, cam, valves, pistons, rods, full exhaust, a turbo and all the electronic stuff to make it work all at once now are you?

I wasn't advising he get the injectors/sparks, it was an analogy...My baic point was this: Yes, the Cat-back is a kick ass first mod, and nets you a decent amount to the wheels, but if you're going to upgrade the exhaust, upgrade the WHOLE system, not just the last section. Think about it, he's ugrading the ast section of his exhaust to one tha accomodates more air and smoother flow, but everything from the engine to te nw exhaust is still as restrictive as the day he bought it. The intake/injectors/sparks was a comparison model ONLY, not a suggestion...He doesn' need any of those to do his exhaust
