some questions

ok just a few quick questions


my car has a strong smell of fumes when i start it i think im running rich?? how do i fix that??



next when im idling i notice my rpm's go up for a second then come back down u guys know what im talking about? my 1990 gmc jimmy did this so i dont think my cobalt should be


ok last thing if i build my motor what kinda hp gains will i get someone told me nothing it just makes the motor stronger so im wondering if thats true or not. im pretty much contemplating if i can build a "contending sleeper" of my car without paying more than what i paid for the car in mods or should i just go with an SS if i want a cobalt with power


lets keep it on topic for at least a few pages lol

"Building your motor" are you talking about replacing the internals with higher quality forged ones or going for a N/A Build. Most people build there motor for strength, usually because they plan on running some form of F/I, Stronger motor=run more boost=more HP/TQ.

Unless you attempt a N/A build, your going to see minimal gains outside of maybe cams. I believe our connecting rods are the first to go @ around 250HP, so you dont need to build much initally.

If you looking for just power, mabye invest in a Hahn Turbo kit, should be a bit cheaper than investing in a SS.

yea i was gonna put forged internals under the hood well if there are no significant hp gains then i might do that but thats pretty much saying ill never make more than say 230 hp then right
