spark plug mod?
EDIT: title name should read spark plug WIRE mod
so i was told about a simple and free mod for the spark plugs that was "said" to net about 10-15 HP... now dont get me wrong... im not taking this for a grain of salt... but i was wondering if anyone had heard about this...
the basic thought is, improve spark efficiency... by shortening the ground side to almost nothing, and grounding out to the small bolt on top of the head that holds the plug harnesses down... or something like that... has anyone heard about this? does it work? is it worth it? i dont really want to be the first to try it as i only have the cobalt and if i **** up my car... well im stuck... thoughts? and just so you know... i did google it and found nothing lol

to a degree yes but it milia secounds your cutting out for posative to hit ground.... for if you think about it long posative then short negative it will take the posative to get to the longer spark then it would hit ground and there forth make the spark faster..... i just say the better the ground is the better your off... for if you do the mod you might....might get a missfire...
Filing down the electrodes was an old-school trick to get better flame propogation at the cost of shorter plug life.
As far as grounding, I don't see how you could get a more direct ground than the plug body already provides to the head...

i was just wondering... a friend of mine said he saw this in a magazine a "few months after the SS/SC cobalt was released". not too sure though... he does have a cammed c6 corvette with full bolt ons, and a fully build 2002 silverado with the 5.3l vortec... mean cars... i trust the guy... but i have NEVER heard about shortening the ground side wire... and the gains he said he read seemed way off for a few inches of ground side wiring...

you will get more if you port that lsj manifold
as for the ground thing its not worth the time, and it might not even work. invest the time into somthing that will work and better.

I haven't ported an LSJ mani in a long time, but yeah they did provide decent gains.
