...If you have the steelies, and continentals, you have a Base LS. If you have an LS/LT w/ the 16" Alloy wheels & and power options it should do ~120
I didn't say you would find a dealer to do it, but it is possible, there are 2 settings in the LS computer, 1 for the 15" and ~105mph cutoff, and 1 for the 16" and ~120 cutoff...

here is me car 812 stock cobalt 2.2 automatic vs stock cobalt 2.2 manual car 811 on our first run

here is our second run with the manual 2.2 cobalt using nitrous (clearly shows him hitting 96MPH!!!!)

here is my fastest stock time in my automatic (which happens to be faster then the 2.2 manual drivers stock time)

my car has the sport package and ive hit the revlimiter at 125mph.
yes,, the sport and the 07 models go to above 105... only ls 05-06 are limited at 105. and my excuse for wanting it...higher cutoff in 4th on the dyno...that **** fucked with my numbers...so i have a safe, legal, and good excuse for it
I hate how people flame you anytime you ask how to up the speed limiter. Its like you know, the question was "how do i do this" not "What do you think about that" or "Whats your opinion on this" or "Can you flame me for wanting to go over 105, even though most ss/sc's that come in here and make ******* comments about us buying a 2.2 have done over 130-140mph". Seriously what the hell is going on here? If someone wants your opinion about something they want to do they will ask for it, if they want technical help, thats ALL YOU SHOULD GIVE! Srry bout the rant in your thread, i am just sick of this crap.
Mind you I'm 18 years old, Not everyone here can afford a SS with monthly payments, gas, and insurance buddy.
If you just need to go over 105 in the 1/4 on the track just disconnect the speed sending wire when you get to the track. Your speedo wont work, but you wont have a limiter anymore.
You can do 90 in the 1/4, but your a long way away from 105. I wouldn't worry about it till it actually happens.
I can barely afford my G5 (which is basically a LT with a few more options) I'm happy with it, but I wish I had a supercharger

im not flaming here but, I know your considering swapping tires when raising the limiter, but are there any suspension issues with the raised limiter? Just thinking that the power steering is lighter in the 2.2's in my experience and the suspension is obviously different. I'm thinking without at least springs at those speeds any movement could get the car really squirly?

well i could very easily get my dealer to do it for me. i have motegi traklite 1.0s and nexen n3000s
i hate to talk about the tires you have cuz i have them too but to me them tires suck.. they pull my car from side to side on the road when i go through some of the deeper grooves from a lot of heavy trucks over the years.. they have been great when it comes to rain or new pavement though.. im goin with the bfg g force t/a kdw's when i wear these nexens out.. just my opinion but i wouldnt suggest anybody buy the nexens thought..

I took mine to 110 on the stock Pirelli tires and rims before my sportlines and it felt good but DAYUM the car felt soooooo much better after I got the Enkei's, Kumho's and sportlines. Took her to almost 130 and still felt like I was going 80.
must have been a dealer upgrade, so its not stock
and i still have not seen anyone NEED to go past 105, except perhaps dyno numbers, but just cut the speedo as posted above.
we get a new kid in here every ****** week crying about not being able to go faster then 105 in his base balt..
difference between 1LT and 3LT (08 aka 2LT) is about 3grand, and your insurance doesnt change that much. So go back and read my posts *******
if you got a legitamate reason, cut the speedo.
but 99% you're that 16 y/o kid wanting to kill himself on the busy highway
ehh, i will need to get above my 105 speedo with my turbo kit and such but i will not sacerfice my speedo in the process, ill jsut live with it i guess, lol
On a side note, does cutting the speedo affect teh RPM tac as well?

I don't know as Ive never done it. I would assume it wont.
You could just rereun the speedo sending wire, put a switch in it somewhere, and mount the switch somewhere. Flip the switch to cut the speedo, flip it again to get your speedo back. Easy as pie.
I would see if you even hit the limiter in the 1/4. It will be close...

it has nothing to do with the speedo...if it did....then when i put the 140 mph gauges it would raise the limiter..and it didnt..i have checked!!!! it is all in your
A-ecm for manuals
or
B-tcm for autos
just like you can run with out your gauge cluster working all together, we did this in red2.4ss's car when hahn screwed up on the tune.
