I've got to agree with everyone who said why you don't need a higher speed limiter.

Your tires are only rated to about 110mph. After that, well, good luck keeping the tires in one piece. So just because your thinking your all fast and furious because you've got an exhaust and intake, doesn't mean your able to go to 105+ just yet.

Next, why do you need to go above 105? I'm breaking trap speeds of 105. Only I'm putting down almost 280hp. So that only concludes that you must be on the streets, so there is no reason to go over 100 unless you want a pretty good size ticket/want to injure yourself/others.

Now lets assume you've uped your hp numbers. Throw a decent size turbo/supercharger/nitrous and somehow tune it. So since your able to tune it, does that mean your able to up the limiter to 200mph? Well once again, lets see how long those tires last at those speeds.

Heres a quick article on tire speed ratings from wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire_code

So now you've got the tires, the power, and you take it someplace safe, the track. You do your run and hit 130mph at the end of the 1/4. Well, ****, now you've got to stop. So you might as well throw in a brake upgrade, because your going to come to a stop no matter what. I just prefer that it's not the wall stopping my car, but thats just me.

Oh, while we're at it, might as well do some suspension work as well.

So as you can see, it's not all about going as fast as you can. People don't fare well when involved in accidents at those speeds, and unless you at least have the proper tires, your going to be in an accident.

This place is turning more and more like the org everyday. People want to go fast, but don't understand the limits that are already set. This isn't a bad thing, no one is born with this knowledge, as I remember reading how to disable the speed limiter on my cavy. However, I read enough and learned why I should do it.

I understand your ideas, however, I'm thinking of adding some power to my car just for some bragging rights and a change in the 0-60 times. And, if when it's all said and done, my car is capable of going that much faster, why not take the extra effort and get rid of the limiter? If you're smart you won't ever use all that speed but atleast you can say it's there.
If bragging rights aren't an issue, why'd they make an SS model? Why do they make Corvettes available to the public? Why does Leno own some of the fastest cars money can buy? See, women like diamonds. Men like fast cars (we're usually just too poor from buying diamonds )
