Speeding Ticket Stories!

Hey all got my first speeding ticket in my Cobalt on Wednesday 3/23, lol. Get ready for this one...

$205 for doing 90mph in a 70mph are of the FLorida Turnpike. I was trying to waste the crappy fuel I had in it before I went to the track that nite and I was heading back to my dorm to change and shower before Moroso. I wasnt paying attention and just looking forward and BOOM I slam on my brakes and see his ass whip around 180 degrees and I just shook my head and pulled over. He said Florida state is "nice" because they offer 18% off and no points with traffic school. Still 185 bucks that I dont have right now,lol friggin college kid. OUCH! Im lucky he didnt catch me 2 minutes earlier, I was doing 110mph,lol. Broad daylight. I've been living in south Florida since last August and I have NEVER seen a cop on the FLlorida Turnpike and I take it at least 5 times a week at all hours of the day.

Anyways, LETS SEE SOME MORE STORIES!!!
BTW: Im not glorifying speeding, but **** its fun. Be safe!

How much did that radar detector cost and how well does it work because I was looking into getting one. Also where did you buy it at.

You guys realize that radar detectors just tell you when you've been caught and rarely help...they used to be great, but now 99% of the time the cops use laser/instant-on radar...

I should know, I've been pulled over 3 times in my balt and several times prior to purchasing my balt. I've owned a radar detector since I was 16.

The first time I was pulled over was on my way to KY in Cinci doing 82 in a 55. Second was a week later in Columbus on 70 doing 9 over the limit. Third was how I found out my license was revoked and barely made it out of a trip to jail.

I don't always drive that fast, it's just I get caught when I do something stupid. Thus why it's called 'something stupid'. lol

Honestly tho...don't buy a radar detector, they don't do any good these days. Laser is instaneous and cannot be detected until it hits you, and the instant-on radar is basically the same except cops can use it while moving. They can only use Laser while sitting still from the front or rear of their vehicle.

unless the detector picks up the cop gunning other people ahead of you...

Yeh, but is that something that you wanna count on everytime to save your ass from a ticket? Usually, if your speeding enough to worry about standing out and getting a ticket, it means your passing people...80% of the time this puts you in front of everyone else anyways...

I didn't get the ticket in my Cobalt, but anyway. I was going home the day after thankgiving morning around 3:30AM, and I was doing 73~ in a 45, not really paying attention. Normally I don't go that fast, but I guess I was so tired I didn't notice. Then I saw the cop trap with 3 squad cars sitting there. I was like, -****-, and didn't even bother trying to slam on the brakes or downshift. After I passed, one pulled out, and I just went ahead and slowed down and pulled over, :P; With a lawyer, I got it reduced to a 54 in a 45 with no points or insurance effect. Moral, pay attention to your speedometer!

They also will 99% write on your ticket you were using radar making it more difficult to prove your innocence on the speeding ticket. That's why I sold mine, doesn't do any good. My new sixth sense is cops.

I got nailed doing 95km in a 50km zone. He let me away with a ticket for 20 - 30 over. Still cost me $300.

Thanksgiving in 2003, I was pulled over doing 52 in a 35. I was in a rush to get home before my curfew. Westfield cops are ********, and esp since this was Thanksgiving, he wrote me a big fat ole ticket.

I went to court, and since that was my first offense, DA knocked it down to 2 pts and... some fine (don't remember).

Hehe right after I bought the car I was seeing how much power it had on the highway driving home. I am really bad for driving a too fast without noticing it.... So when I went to pass a few cars, not paying attention and the car governs-out... I looked down to see I was doing about 120 miles an hour(rough translation because I live in Canada).... right after that a cop passed me on the other side of the highway and I saw him turn around... so I got off the highway and hid in some no-name dirt road haha... Still no tickets.

radar

first off, the most common speed detection in use in my stat at least is laser, which takes a reading in less than a second, and it takes the avareage human more than a second to comprehend the sound and move from the gas to the break... so by the time you get to thinking aobut lsowing down hes already got you pegged..... and even if you do get to the break in time. if your going fast enough to get pulled over, your not gonna get slowed down enough to make it matter because it wil lgive them the highest reading... and that reading comes from the initial hit of the laser/radar on you car, which sets off the alarm, which, unless your psychic, you cant controll, so spend the $300 on something to make you faster because radar detection is a waist of time...

onto my ticket story, we'll for with my most recent ticket, the 8th ive gotten in the 4 years ive been driving.(i dont learn very fast)

so i had jsut gotten out of hte doctor who told me i needed surgery for the cut on my finger that severed my tendon 95% of hte way through (dont ask) and i was pretty angry that i was going to miss at least 2 weeks of work, so i was releasing stress through my gas pedal. doign about 80 which isnt too incredibly fast, i noticed in the westbound side of the highway a state patrol car was setting up to do radar... but he was looking hte other way so i carried on my merry litle way, picked up my check and was heading home... thinking nothing of it, still doing 80, flew past the cop, and knew i was caught... so i just pulled over and waited for him... when he got to the window i realized that my lisence was missing from my wallet (a $500 minimum fine in WA for driving without a lisence on your person), then i found my insurence card, but in the huge stack of papers the dealership gave me was my registration, which i had removed and filed at home, so all i had was insurence, and no photo ID (driving without registartion, min $800, possible impounding and or arrest) thank God above that the cop was in a good mood, i told him about how i had cut myself and my lisence ws probably at the doctors office. he takes my info down and goes to his car, comes back, im expecting over $1000 in fines, slips me a ticket for 70 in a 60(i was going 80, and he had radar to prove it) but on top of only siting me for 70, he gave me the minimum fine of $91 which is insane since the last ticket i got was 73 in a 60 and was over $180... long story short, i got off waaaay easy and the cop even gave me info on what ot tel lthe judge to have it reduced even more.... yay for me... (i said i have 8 tickets, you wonder how i still have a lisence... i have a lawyer who loves me because i give her lots of money to keep them off my record.... $350 a court date if you were wondering, yes its expensive but thats how i get full coverage with comprehensive medical on a brand new car with a 20 year old driver for $107) thanks fo rreading... nighty night

I would have fought that. I fought a ticket for going 81 in a 70 zone and won, you would have won a 46 in a 45 for sure. All you would have to say is your car said you were going 45 because they cant fix your speedometer unless your 10 km out in Canada... so I assume it is about the same in the US.

wrong, all wrong
it depends on your area
only the police camaro uses laser around here
the rest use KA/K band

they dont use instant on, cuz its illegal unless you have the right speed gun, and theyre expensive

i bought one of the x50's, and i love it, i only do 10 mph over when i drive anyways, but its good to have

you missed the quote, he was going to let us go after i told him to get another cop, but instead i ended up having him hold up and got a superior. then got an official police report and filed a harrassment claim, which does dick when its against a police officer.
