Ss/sc Injectors In 2.2
Ss/sc Injectors In 2.2
question for anyone who knows, i am looking at buying the stock SS/SC injectors to put in my 2.2 i was told that they are 34#injectors and with a proper tune will help make more power.
could someone please describe to me how it acheives more power, what the tune does to make it, and what kind of power gains im looking at.
thanks!

the only thing i know about the ss s/c stock injector swap is for the 2.4L ss. BUT, they have to order your injector wiring harness to be able to use my injectors. so maybe your wiring harness will work, and you just need a tune.
good luck
good luck
mods like intake exhaust?
i didnt buy a full intake setup just a K&N dropin filter, i like the stock setup, i just bought pacestter headers should be installing this weekend, and the guy im buying them from is including the harness.

any idea about HP gains...?
well i just bought them so i hope they improve a bit.
still would like to know gains if anyone else knows would be really helpful.

will do. kindof excited to see myself, although im going to have to wait for a tune. there is a meet at sonic in may some guy with HPtuners is going to be there charging for tunes. guess ill get it done then.
You cannot TUNE for those injectors in the 2.2L yet because no software is available, but the older Ecotec harness will let you put them in your car. You should be able to Buy a MAF translator from Intense and trick them into working.
That harness doesn't matter, unless you are GOOD at splicing wires, then you could just rig the injector clips onto your stock harness.
You can MAF translate them to work, which is pretty simple, but gives you NO HP gains. The power comes from the added RPM's, and timing, which is why the injectors are required in the first place.
The reason why the injectors are needed in the 2.4L is because they use the same injectors as the 2.2L, and are maxed out from the factory. I have not scanned a 2.2L because I can't, but I would guess that they are just fine with their stock injectors for now.
So you COULD make it work in the 2.2L because they will bolt in, with the older Ecotec harness, and the MAf translater would recalc the flow rate (essentially). Bigger injectors on their own will not give you HP, and without translatig or tuning you will be shooting LIQUID gas out of your tailpipe, because the LSJ injectors are 41% larger.

We have not dyno'd the 2.4L but we saw a 0.5 sec improvment and +3 mph in 1/4 mile with a MILD tune and injector swap. That was on the 2.4L HP wise, probably 15hp with that setup.

My apologies, I will edit my above post. I meant that you cannot tune for those injectors in the 2.2L yet.

but would i be able to tune to make more power? you say you cant scan it but im sure someone else has, i was reading a lot about maxing out the stock injectors, wouldn't an HPTune take care of that?
I can tune a 2.2L cavalier, but not a Cobalt! It's a crime! There is a large 2.2L community out there that could use some support with these tunes. As far as your 2.2L, It does NOT max out the stock injectors, based on intelligent calculations. The 2.4L does however.
I'm just trying to help you out by saving you some time. Keep your eyes peeled for the SCT (?) tuner, and look into a Dashhawk and see what that does, I don't think it tunes, but it reads.

The real questions is do you need SS/SC injectors?
NO YOU DO NOT
Your no where close to maxing out your injectors with simple bolt ons. Until you bolt on some type of forced induction you WILL NOT need bigger injectors.
Bigger injectors dump more fuel into the engine, the engine can only handle so much fuel, you would actually FLOOD the engine and do harm with bigger injectors.
P.s. you have a pacesetter HEADER not headers

hmmm i was thinking about it since i do have the full exhaust(gmpp header, xtc dp, magnaflow catback),intake, lightweight crank pulley and comp cams stage one. and not that it matters much just ordered b&m shift plus. pulley and cams go on tuesday.

but other than that its still not what im asking, i want to know what would make them work. besides its good to have for when i do more mods. which as with most ppl are in the works, still working handling then im going to work on performance.
let me know if you find anymore info out that could be useful.

And to the original poster I was posting that so that you know not to put them on your car now. I can understand buying them for later down the road
*edit: you should not get a dry shot of nos though.. get a wet shot then you dont need to change the injectors
