I think he's referreing to the 2.2L. I almost made that mistake too. But yeah I don't think a company has a stage 1 kit for the 2.2's

I think there is some confusion here about what a "Stage" kit is. Stage kits are usually associated with forced induction applications. They are used to increase how much boost your compressor is capable of delivering to your engine.

The 2.2L L61 isn't a forced induction engine. There is nothing to stage. What exactly have you heard or what do think would be part of a stage kit for this engine?

GMPP is (supposedly, if they would get off their collective asses) releasing a supercharger kit for the L61 in the Cobalt. When they do, that will probably be all they ever do. They most likely will not offer stage kits for that accessory like for the LSJ engine in the SS models.

After market companies like Hahn Race Craft (yeah, I know, friggin' Halfcent and his buddy Hahn again...) will make turbo charging kits with different levels of performance and offer them as "Stages".

I believe the supercharger kit for the 2.2 is out, 17800003 from gmpartsdirect.com thats the number referenced in the build book. It's been available since 01 Feb for $2845
I checked the number when I got the book and got nothing, I checked it 2 weeks ago and it showed as available.

This is a common mistake. The super charger installation in the build book is for the J-body platform. It states that very clearly in the introduction of the section under the "supercharger" heading. It is not designed for the Delta platform cars. Same engine, yes, but different body and computer. All three of which need to match.
