Stupid question I'm aware.

Okay... it's been awhile since I looked under my hood, but I'mma ask this question anyways.

If I was to turbo my 2.2L base, would I still have room for the custom 2.2L intakes?

I've no idea where the turbo mounts vs. the posistion of an intake cause I've never seen a turbo on a car. I do think the placement of the intake the SS was different if my memory serves me right, and I believe that the reason aside from the Supercharger placement is there is a different hook up to the engine due to size or something on the SS.... so that was probably all just run together in a single thought.... if anyone understood it, gimme a heads up with the original question. Thanks.

J

Turbo can be almost mounted anywhere but the most feasible place would be behind the motor in this case.

well part of the turbo is the intake, so no custom intakes can be used with a turbo set up, cuz the turbo pushes air through an "intake" right to the throttle body, so basically the intake is part of the whole turbo set up, but it has to be custom made straight to the turbo

In other words it'd be a waste of my money to buy the Injen Intake then....

Correct. You either get an intake, or you get a turbo. A turbo is, in essence, an intake system. Just like Wikky said.

wouldnt the same apply to a supercharger? no point in buying an intake if you're gonna get a supercharger?

well if its custom wouldn't it be made to fit

with a supercharger or turbocharger you will have to route your own intake...or modify one of the pre existing ones.

with a supercharger you should still be able to do most of the n/a mods since a supercharger runs off a pulley and not off of exhaust gases like a turbo so an intake would be fine for a supercharged application just not on a turbo application

Ah, I understand your confusion now.

Yes, a forced induction system (super or turbo), still has to "take in" air from the outside. You were asking however about specifically getting an intake first, then a turbo afterward. That would not work. The intake systems that are out there are designed with duct work that routes directly into your throttle body. A turbo system would replace that duct work with it own, and would then locate its air intake in a completely different place.

As for the supercharger on the SS, the intake systems for that are designed specifically to replace the one installed by the factory. So the duct work will match.

You wouldn't need to get an intake with a turbo system, because the system would come with its own. You could certainly put a different air filter element on the intake, but you wouldn't need to change the actual pipes.
