catalytic converter

i tried and couldnt find a recent post before, so if there is one dont be mad at me, i tried.

i tried looking for the catalytic converter on my 2.2...yeah i cant find it. someone said it could be part of the resonator ...thats not true is it? i plan on (for money saving) just getting a custom resonator back exhaust for now....to save money mostly ...and i cant find the cat..lol...where is it!?!?!

Its a part of the downpipe close to where the exhaust manifold ends. If you're looking into the engine bay with the engine cover removed, you probably won't see it. Its likely obscured by the firewall.

look under the car right below the exhaust manifold, its right there plain as day.

once you find it, make sure you leave it. It is illegal to remove it before like 70,000 miles. but yes, it closely resembles your resonator.

so the resonator is after the cat? cuz ive only noticed one thing in the exhaust line ithought it was the cat but this is like directly under the middle of the car...must be the resonator then

that is the resonator, as I've said its right underneath the exhaust manifold. You must look underneath the car towards the firewall. You will not see it if you just look from the side or rear...

The easiest way to see it is to take off the engine cover (which for Wikky is already done), look straight down the exhaust pipe standing above the engine, and its the last thing you see before the pipe is hidden under the rest of the car. It has the O2 sensor lead wire coming from it. The resonator has no electical connection.
