Switched from SRI to CAI

Switched from SRI to CAI

Okay, So I bit the bullet and converted my Short ram into a cold air intake. I jacked the car up, didnt have to remove the Rim, but the wheel well was easy enough to get out.
I put on my cold air extension, after having been running with the short ram set up for a few weeks.
Does anyone else seem to have this problem?: After putting on the Cold air extension, the car's noise is less, (Which is fine by me) and the overall power and torque of the car seem to be less than they did with the SRI set up.

Now, When I put on the SRI, I DID unhook the battery for the entire process, and this time I did NOT unhook the battery. Might this have helped? Or should I switch back to my SRI.

Has anyone else had the same thing happen?

I would disconnect the battery for 15-20 minutes, hook it back up, and drive the **** out of it, so the computer sets to that kind of driver.

it doesn't need reset. Think about it this way, with short ram you are pulling the air only through the filter. Now with the extension you have to pull it all the way up the tube just to get to the filter. Make any sence? Someone on here explained it as compairing sucking air through a straw then sucking air through two straws, which one will be harder to get air through?

I can understand the logic behind that, but, since the system is sealed, wouldnt it be just like one big straw. Theoretically, if you put two straws together, and there were no holes, or places for air to escape, wouldnt the pulling power be the same as the SRI?

I would also think that the CAI would allow more air to be forced in as the filter sits right at the source of the air, instead of it having to suck the air from the engine compartment.

I may be wrong, I will admit that, but that is what makes sense to me.

Next Question

okay, So I disconnected my battery for about 20 minutes, and the car does seem a little better. It especially is noticable through 4th and 5th gear, but the lower three still feel slower than with the SRI. I went through and made sure all the clamps were tight. So I dont know what to do with that.

My next question is to anyone that has the CAI setup. Do you have the problem that the cold air extension rattles agains the hole it sits in? In the low gears, I was hearing a rattle of sorts, and when I checked the extension on my intake, the tube is resting right up against the metal around the hole. I dont think its dammaging the intake, but it certainly is anoying. I tried re-positioning it, but thats as far as I can get it to go.

Any suggestions?

yea when I put my cai extension on it rattled like crazy. I had to readjust it all the way to the throttle body and then tighten down the little rubber spacer to make sure it never moved again. Its been a couple of months and its rattle free.

Pardon my ignorance, but when you say little rubber spacer, is that the rubber thing Injen gives to bolt down the braket on the CAI extension?
