Tiptronic

The one thing I wish the cobalts had is the option of tiptronic, because my friend has it in his car and it is fun and easy to drive because you do not have to deal with a clutch but you get that pull when the car shifts. I wish it was a option and does anyone know if it is possible to put paddle shifters in our cobalt?

Does any one wish they had tiptronic?

Paddleshifting can be installed in our cars, so can a turbocharger, an LS7 crate motor, and all wheel drive conversion and anything else you want if you really want to spend the money to make it happen. It is a waste though.

triptonic is kind of a waste unless your talking about something like the SMG that bmw has. thats an actual manual transmission that is entirerly controlled with solenoids that work the clutch and the gears. its much much faster than even the best drivers and more accurate. cool setup but its expensive.

the triptonic that controls a manual transmission is boring, the shifts are delayed without a shift kit, even then they aren't that great. i'd rather leave an automatic alone and let it do its own thing. a manual valve body is a different story though, those are pretty cool.

I like tiptronic because you don't have to deal with a clutch, but I was wondering how much it would cost to have paddle shifters intalled. I saw on another link a set up for them that looked easy to install and I was wondering though if it would cost a lot of money.

If the 2.0 was offeredx with an auto I would have bought one. I assume you mean the 2.2 auto.

Yes, B&M has a device called Shift+ that can be used on the 2.2 auto, although B&M doesn't list it for our tranny. Halfcent did the prototyping on it (use the search feature - there's a nice long thread on it). I have one in the trunk of my 2.4 Auto, which does nothing at this point because I've been too busy to install it.

I'm looking forward to actually getting this installed asnd trying it out. Meantime, if you're interested find the thread (I'm too lazy this AM to look it up and provide a link - sorry!).

Had the tiptronic in my Lincoln LS, was nice but nothing like VW and the Bimmers offer. Probably won't be that great in this car. Definately nice to have, cause I love a regular manual but get sick of having to shift all time on some days.
