trying to sc this cavy

okay first things first the car is a 2004 chevy cavalier 2.2 l61

okay my parts for now are as follows inovative wideband lc-1, vac/boost gauge, pillar pod, supercharger coolant reservoir(stole the idea off of another sc build), and i'm order this from zzp https://www.zzperformance.com/cobalt...1089&catid=166 also i have hptuners and i guy that i know who does nothing but chevy cars and tunes alot of single digit track cars, so my questions are how much boost can my stock bottom end handle how much does that supercharger produce and is there a way to control the boost through the boost bypass solenoid since my car isnt a cobalt and doesnt have a connection for a boost bypass?

Last edited by 04yellowcavls; Jan 24, 2010 at 05:43 AM. Reason: relized that the supercharger in fact had a boost bypass solenoid

The bypass or bov is part of any f/i system. I really think you should look into it alot more before you get your hands dirty.

Why not just save your time and money and get a Cobalt SS/SC or a SS/TC if you boost a Caviler too much then the suspension, brakes and tranny might cause you issues as the car was not designed for any performance other than what it is, a plain old daily driver.
Just my adivce and opinion

Youre not likely to get many helpful answers about a Cavy on a Cobalt forum (see post #3)

Stop over at ecotecforum, and if youre really desperate you could try jbody.org

This swap has been done MANY MANY times, all the asnwers you need are out there, you just need to research more.

Maven FTW. Although I knew some ******* was gonna say you should get rid of it... My friend Ray had a Cavi that was running just south of 400hp and DD'd it for 6 months before it was stolen. Cavi's are just as much a performance machine as Balts are.

Yeah, youre right, it was hard to understand that you didnt mean to SC the Cavalier, I mean **** all you said was to buy a different car since Cavys werent performance machines.

Hey if it's the 04 LT Sport Coupe for sure. Myself I would not do it, but it's his car and money to do with what ever he wants to. I just was throwing in my 2 cents worth

wow lol such argument well it is my money and my car that already has full suspension so thank you though for the helpful info at least someone didnt tell me to buy another car cuz honestly insurance and car payments suck so i like to keep that all to a minimal cobalt ss is going to cost me over 200 a month for insurance so why not just boost the bad ass cavy lol but thank you i will check out that forum

Really? I mean most people dont exactly have the money to spend to have two of the same car.

The rest of you post is about the same as someone talking down on a 400hp EG Civic and that they should have gotten a brand new SI.

Lets see, 04 Cavi 3500~5500, Cobalt SS/SC 8500~14000, Cobalt SS/TC 16000~22000
Take the money for either of the Cobalts and throw it into the Cavi and you got a much faster car with more options for doing it safely.

Wow... That sucks man. Seems like there are a lot of people having issues with either shitty parts or order issues. I dont know if OTTP's stuff with work with a Cavi(Cobalt/IRL mainly) but they are worlds better then ZZP. Good luck.

there are items that are needed for the L61 that aren't w/ the 2.0 ss/sc. search for my threads at ecotecforum and j-body.org. it's not that easy to piece it together but it can be done.
