turbo + trifecta + auto...
turbo + trifecta + auto...
Ok guys, I know we've talked about this many times before, but once again I've changed my mind on turbo since we have tuning and what now.
as some of you may know im an auto.
Im still wondering about fitment, i know people have said it would work, but does anyone actually know from experiance? how much fabrication did hahn have to do to get it to fit on the 2.4 auto? what about tapping the oil pan?
Im am going to order the garrett kit (without injectors and tuner) and im going to get ahold of vince and some 32lbers from an ss/sc to tune. Does anyone know if vince has experiance tuning for the garrett turbo or should i get the smt tuner anyways and load it into my car and then just have vince put in the tranny info? some suggestions on how to go about that would be nice
The plan is as follows:
my girlfriend crashed my blazer so I paid it off and now have 1 less car payment (Extra money)
im renting my buddies basement out and moving out of my apartment and saving myself alot of money (more money)
my fiancee finaly got a decent job and now pays most of her own bills (more money)
see a trend?
anyways I also have been working mad overtime lately so I imagine I will be driving a turboed 2.2l auto around by the middle of july.
My mod schedule is as follows:
5/22: made first post in build thread
5/30: buying black ss/sc interior with blue inserts
month of june: save money + tax rebate + part out blazer
sometime in june: order tuner, buy injectors, order kit
early july: install turbo
mid july: drive turbo balt around

If I were you I would wait and see how these e-mail tunes work out for other people involved in f/i builds. Trifecta tune + a piggyback might be a pretty good combination.
I doubt it would be terribly difficult for a proficient shop to customize the garrett kit for an auto.

i am a 5spd balt, so far trifeca has done a few few turbo balts, i know xcobaltx is a 2.2 workin on his turbo set up...he is almost done, by allmost i mean he needs one more little bitty thing...i am working on my turbo set up as well, just search jn2 and ull find my thread, i think they can get the car to run and run pretty good, it really depends how good u can datalog, cuz once u get it you have a week to adjust it, which means, time to datalog, send him the file to look at and say adjust here here and here ya know, its not like hes gon mail it to you and be done with it
ok then, someone help me out by pointing me in the direction of a good product for datalogging...does a dashhawk or w/e its called do it or am i going to need a bunch of seperate products? i know a wideband is a must. or do you mean like just moniter my guages and manually write down temps and conditions?
my plans are to be up and running in july at roughly 200-225hp. and if i like it, build my motor sometime in 2009 and then push 300 hp or so. with new axles and traction mods of course. and im sure im going to be power hungry 5mins after im done so keep an eye out autos!
on a side note: would i be the first auto 2.2l turbo if i did it in july? perhaps i could get financial support from garret or a free tune from trifecta for being to guinea pig? im not bankin on it but it would be cool

trifeca already has beta testers, dont think ull get a free-be, and if a wideband isnt enough, u need to know more than just the a/f, u need to know the a/f at every rpm, and i think they do datalog, but honestly you need som ething that can get ur a/f from a wideband o2, your rpm, and yuour tps
It might be a bit of a hassle, but in the long run, it will guarantee you the best possible tune through them. Much better than trying to do it by e-mail. And it might actually end up being less of a hassle than trying to perfect a tune by mailing back and forth.
