OP to help answer your question I think it would depend on what model ion and what model cobalt you have. I know they use different PCMs, I think the 04 ions had an issue that made them difficult/impossible to tune, though that may have been fixed by now. As far as I know an L61 from an ion is the same as the cobalt and the LSJ is also the same in both cars.
