vacuum line?

soooo i was told you could put a boost gauge on a LS/NA and run it as just a vacuum gauge, i know your probably asking yourself why the hell do u want a boost gauge if ur cars not boosted? long story short, im starting to get the **** ineed now for when i get my supercharger kit either this summer or winter. though i have no idea which would be considered a vaccume line. im guessing its the line that comes off the top of my valve cover into the side of my CAI? but im not sure, any help would be appreciated. i may just not hook it up at all, but im getting my a/f and interceptors in feb

No that is not vacuum.either the line(hard plastic)that goes from the evap purge solenoid(driver side of valve cover)to the intake manifold,or thr line going from the intake manifold to the brake booster(would need a specialty "t" 1/2 inch to 3/16ths).When you get the blower on there's a nipple on the intake specifically for the boost gauge.

On the 2.2 intake manifold there is a little rubber vacuum cap to the right of the throttle body. You could probably use that for your vacuum line. I plan to when I get my vacuum gauge.

You know I saw that and thought about it but never tried it.As long as it goes into the manifold, then yes that would work perfectly.I forgot all about that one.

Thanks for the replies guys, i will look for that vacuum cap when i get my boost gauge, i just thought since i had the triple pillar i might as well atleast have the gauge up and running even if its only measuring vacuum, with no blower i wont get any boost but atleast the gauge will bounce around a little bit lol!

Check out this website, its a picture of the intake manifold, is the little yellow nipple at the bottom what your talking about? http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...jzBPFLhOvaF7uT

No that's the 2.4 upgraded manifold. Both yellow caps are vacuum top being evap and bottom being brake booster. You can use either or but like stated above on your stock manifold on the side there's a black vacuum cap you can take off and use.you'll see it when looking for it

Just open your hood and look at there the throttle body mounts to the intake manifold. Then look to the right in that area around (IIRC) the 3rd runner. You should see it. Someone with a 2.2 who put a vacuum gauge in their car used this nipple and he said it works mint. There isn't anything there though on 2.4 manifolds (IIRC. I never looked that close at my buddy's 2.4 mani)

Im currently using the nipple that had the rubber cover on it on the 2.2 and it works perfect for me. Been using it for about 5 or 6 months now with no problems

Question: my buddy has the 2.4 mani on his 2.2 and we were trying to find a vacuum line to tap into today and saw there were only the two, already mentioned, brake booster and hard plastic lines.

We want to tap into the plastic one, but we're unsure if the T-fitting will fit properly. Has anyone here successfully tapped into this plastic line? If so, what size if the hard line? The alternative we're considering is just getting a new piece of black rubber vacuum hose to replace the plastic line and fittings all together, then just use a couple hose clamps to secure it (without crushing the plastic fittings of course lol).
