if you look at zzp's site they have an image or 2 of the cobalt fuel pump removed. this get-up looks nothing like the walbro pics we've all seen on the net. the fuel pump for the cobalt is housed in a canister that has the fuel level sender attached to it. to replace the pump you pull the canister apart to do so.

The canister needs dremeled slightly to fit. Also, the harness will be different, but a set of quick disconnects at any parts store fit on the Walbro's.

This for a 2005 LSJ, though. I run the GSS342 I believe.

You sure it's a pump you need? A 1:1 boost/vac reference fuel system would probably be better for you.

well, ever since i gutted my cat and changed my intercooler piping ive been running lean. i talked to vince about it and this is what he said in the email

"What I am seeing is pretty typical of a fuel pump issue - fuel ratio is OK
for a second or so, then it takes a nose dive - there's no corresponding
drop in MAF signal, though, so it's not a MAF sensor issue."

i just have no way of checking my fuel pressue at wot to see if its dropping. also my car starts leaning out when i go past half throttle.

Sounds like a pump. I had similar issues when I switched to E85. I would assume the 2.2 Cobalt's have an even smaller pump as well.

Dropping the tank isn't bad. Just sucks if it isn't empty.

It's an easy install. Very little dremeling is needed. Plus, if that Walbro comes with the Pigtail/Harness, you won't need quick disconnects.

I've thought about changing the pump but it seems to be holding up fine I'm on 80's and I'm running a bit rich at 23 PSI. GM is weird...
