Would I have problems with my downpipe if....
If the stainless mesh, or "flex-section" on my downpipe has corroded slightly so there is a hole, would I have an exhaust leak problem? I wouldn't think the stainless mesh is the only thing keep exhaust gases in, but I could be wrong.
Any help is appreciated!

Awesome. I already have an exhaust leak on my stock exhaust manifold or pipe, not sure yet, because I drove through some... uh... rain... yeah rain that's it......... Two more questions. One, can this be fixed? And two, is this pipe bad enough to worry about or should I just install it and see how long it lasts? Corrosion is where the mesh and the cat piping meet.

i by all means, am no expert but i would say the only way to fix the breaking of the flexpipe is welding it, but then maybe it wouldnt be a flex pipe unless you only weld a small part of it...
not very sure about that maybe some1 else with more knowledge will chime in.

I wouldn't worry about anything in that picture, it's just a little frayed. Unless you have a leak there of course. As long as the pipe under that isn't leaking I wouldn't bother doing anything, only way to fix it is to cut it out and wield a new one in.
