so then basically you couldnt put the down pipe on because doesnt the down pipe need the catalyic conveter removed to install the ss down pipe then reinstall?

would it be legal if you took it off and put it back on?

 

Federal law says you can't alter a stock emissions system in any way unless its broken. So yes tecnically speaking replacing a functioning cat even with the exact same stock cat is illegal. I really doubt anyone is ever prosecuted for this except in the infamous California street race busts where they impound cars and such. No roadside police officer is going to get down under your car and take a look at your emissions system during a traffic stop.

Who are you having the install done by a dealer or an indepenndent shop? A dealership will definetly not replace a downpipe, but I'm sure almost any independent mechanic will since its for "off road use only" ....right?

Dude call around. Go to the Midas shop on Duke St. It is right near the Duke St. Jordan St intersection. Find the big black guy. I forget his name but he should hook you at least half that I would think.

haha, parts are cool to get but shitty when u take them to a mechanic and they cost just as much. whatever, car is a expensive hobby.

my vibrant exhaust is very nice though. i am shocked. a lot better high end speed. like going from 40 to 60 was a lot faster, andthe pick up from 1st to 2nd impressed me too

I have talked to a few muffler shops in AZ, so I do not know if it applies to your state, but replacing a stock cat before 75k miles is illegal. It is only legal if the cat is damaged.

I had to wait on each car I have owned to go from a catback to full exhaust.
