07 LT2 suspension

First off I know what TC stands for.

That being said I'm looking to understand my wife's suspension more in depth. Mainly due to her leaky passenger front strut and bouncy, comfortable, stock ride.

I was considering KYB's front and rear but am open to other suggestions as well.

I am also wondering if a beefier stock rear sway bar off an upgraded model would be a direct bolt on?

Thanks for any information.

I am not looking to lower it, not with the lack of attention while she drives.

I really just want to sport the ride up a bit. Make it more predictable....

I just realized I put this in the wrong forum, sorry about that.

And with some more searching I stumbled upon this. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/susp...m4-jl9-137064/

If you don't want to lower it too much, but make the ride a little sportier, you could replace it with the FE3 parts, it's the mid-level suspension that came on the 2.4 liter Cobalts and ION Redlines. It's a little sportier, with a slight drop, but nothing drastic.

kyb shocks/struts are just an aftermarket oem replacement

supercharged or turbocharged struts will be a great option aswell, not sure the cost of the kybs,

sc or tc springs will give you a slight not more that about 3/4" of a drop, no where near bottoming out or anything to really worry about

interms of rear sway bar, theres no oem upgrade,

progress make one its about 3/4" i believe but the best ones are from Powell Race Shop, they make a 1" street bar and a 1.25" hardcore bar.

That sounds like it could be a good option. I'm trying to be easy on the budget as well just because her car is our "comfortable" car.

Are there any FE3 parts available that you know of? I went back for sale quite a few pages and didn't find too much.

Unfortunately we don't see a lot of Cobalts quite yet in junkyards around my area.

Ah ok. I had some personal experience with KYB's on a Grand AM GT in the past and they did the job pretty well. They run roughly $200 shipped, front and back for the Cobalt. That's another attractive thing about them.

I bet stock SS/TC springs are pretty common items kicking around peoples' garages on this forum, eh?

I think I understand the sway bar setup in the back, it seems that the stock bar is one with the rear and aftermarket ones are added in conjunction.

I'll check out those sights you mentioned, appreciate it.

I have really no clue where to look for good websites for parts for the Chevy.

Thanks for the replies!

Contact CrateEngineDepot on here, they're a great source for OEM parts, but I think they only list the FE5 suspension on their site. Not that that's not a bad option, I have it and I love it, but it's the stiffest of the 3 and if you're not looking to push handling that far, the FE3 sounds like it would fit the bill. If you contact them, they should be able to get you whichever suspension you choose.
