2.2 LAP Mods?
2.2 LAP Mods?
im kinda a noob to ecotecs..
but i would like to know what mods i could perform on my 2.2
i have a injen cold air intake and a custom exhaust i had made with a friend. i know header and downpipe can help. but what else can i do to get some more out of my 2.2 before supercharging and turbo?

i was reading here that the manifold is the same as a 2.4 and a TB of a 08 2.4 would give a little more power. i got an 09 G5 so it would be the LAP 2.2 engine i believe
Not the same manifold as a 2.4. Injectors are unnecessary. 2.4 or LSJ throttle body, 2.4 intake manifold, header, downpipe, "custom exhaust" injen intake, lightweight pulleys. That's about it.
all sounds good thanks guys
i got 2.5" tubing on my exhaust is that ok? and ac delete not good for texas weather lol. but ill look into the throttle body. will i need a tune after?

The 2.2 LAP intake manifold is a modified version of the 2.4's. So technically you don't need to replace the intake manifold, you got about the best there is already. Not sure about the injectors, but if thats true that they are the le5 injectors that rocks too. I'd do full exhaust, intake (you already have), TB, and tune.
2.5 inch tubing is fine for your exhaust. You have the new style 2.4 IM so no need to change that. Throttle body would help some and you will need a tune for that. Injectors won't do anything for you because to use more fuel you need to flow a lot more air which won't happen without forced induction. Do header and downpipe first then throttle body and tune. After that you are pretty much out of options except to go turbo, supercharged, or run nitrous
If you are an auto you can throw a B&M shiftplus on it. Mounts also make it feel a little sportier, little better response
I can't speak from experience yet, but IMO just go super or turbo

As long as you don't mind the vibrations. They are pretty bad at first but die down after a few weeks. Car feels a lot more responsive with them on.
What are our stock injectors good to?

Ok so next I'm doing header and downpipe and then TB.. I was planning on cams but I would need to tune correct? And im planning to go supercharged sometime but not any time soon that would be last on my list.
Also what do better mounts do? Do they stop all the vibration I get when I have my AC on?

What is this shiftplus? Ive never heard of it and i researched it a little and from what i can tell whats the difference between that and just a tune?

Mounts will stiffen up the engine so that you put more power to the ground and don't get wheel hop.
Cams are not really worth the hassle unless you go turbo or super and are looking to optimize the setup. Because of the variable valve timing I'm not sure anyone even makes cams for the LAP but the last I read someone talking about doing cams it was gonna cost over a grand because of custom work needed to make it work with the VVT and to get the "key" on the end for the cam sensor.

ok so with mounts will help get me a better launch?
If you have the money and want excellent quality, I'd go with the ZZP long tube header package. I've had mine with catted downpipe since august and I was still N/A when I put it on. It is a wonderful setup and you can feel quite a difference with it, especially up in the higher rpm range. It makes the exhaust quite loud at WOT though. I like the way it sounds, and that's the only thing that could be considered a downside with the combo.
