2.2L LAP Turbo Kit
2.2L LAP Turbo Kit
Is there a turbo kit for a 2009 Cobalt LT that is complete that you can buy somewhere, or do I have to buy all the parts individually? I've been looking around in this forum section and I've read that ZZP has one but when I went to their site I can't find it. Maybe my research skills are lacking but I can't find a complete turbo kit. I would like to turbo my Cobalt before I start doing any other mods to it.
Thank you very much, now I just need to understand what each option is haha. I guess my next question would be should I just go with a stage 1 kit and after I get that on, move up to stage 2 then stage 3? Is it a bad idea to go with say a stage 3 right from the start? Not saying I will but just wondering. With a stage 3 kit you'd need upgraded engine internals and trans correct? I also understand that I would have to tune it myself or get someone local to tune it since I have no idea what to do at that point but this is all a learning process for me right now.
you could do stage 1 or even stage 2 if you want to push your luck but beyond that you would need to upgrade rods and pistons if you want over 250hp and the trans is only rated SAFELY to 220ish torque so that would need upgrade as well.
Tell me more about your kit was it effective? how much did it cost? how many hp you got ? did you have to change any internals? Where is this kit from? What is the turbo... etc...
im the only person to do the ko4 (turbo from ss/tc) swap... no internals 10 psi of boost, 3500 miles and need a new clutch now because of it. not sure on the hp... never had it dynoed, faster than a stock lsj. i put it together myself and all said and done cost me a little over $2500
I was looking into this for my car too, the stage 1 doesnt come with an intercooler so i was talking with my friends and i think im gonna purchase the stage 2 w/ the boost controller and just tune it down to stage 1 specs.
then it will be soo easier to mod
Do you need a new intake manifold for the 2.2L turbo kit? and does the stage 2 kit come with a front mount intercooler? On the website it shows "liquid/air intercooler" <--can someone explain that too me? Thank you
Alright i emailed zzp, and they expained everything to me... Stock intake manifold will hold if anyone else is wondering.
pretty sure you wont come close to a LNF remember they are about 240hp and 240ish ftlbs to the wheels completly stock.. youll need a tranny upgrade before you can come close to the stock numbers of a LNF. plus the LNF is a 4.05 or a 4.45 gear and five speed. not a real chance. Is trifecta still the only people tuning the 2.2L?

first lnf is 260 hp/torque
and the tranny is the same in the LAP and in the LNF. It's a german tranny good for 600 hp at least if i remember
and all cobalts got a 5 speed...
O.O what are you basing your ideas on? i mean get some info before saying something that important
