Angled Muffler
As "ricer" as this may sound, I've seen a lot of cars with the angled muffler look where it slants out to one side.... is this solely for aesthetic purposes? or some other reason? does it reduce back pressure or anything? I kind of like the way it looks and am considering doing it when my new muffler arrives in the mail. - Anyone done this?

The bend is going to increase back pressure. I mostly imagine the angled muffler is done so that it fits the vehicle/for looks. I'd never do it so I can't say anything more than that.
its just for looks as far as i know and mostly considered on here at least ricey lol some of the megan and ark exhaust kits are like this but they are also well known for making mostly import exhaust systems

I know, I know - I even said it's rice.... I know it doesnt add horsepower, im just looking to do something different on a Cobalt...
i havnt seen many with it, except for the first picture I posted.
So options:
A - Angled
B - Normal and recessed a little so the tip doesnt stick out way past the bumper and look gay.

Here is an old pic from behind my car. The reason the subaru guys do it is because it is a more straight through design. Since we have to go under the rear axel its easier to have it angled. If we wanted a regular one it would have 2 pretty much 90 degree bends to sit up in the stock location.
sup dude...i made this thread a while ago.. i dont know if u seen it but it think they look good on a cobalt https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appe...91710/....also i think the ricer video is stupid lol
The cobalt is not designed to have an angled exhaust. Now before everyone says. "oh but dude no car is but everyone does it" listen to what I'm saying (read what I'm typing). The subaru makes gains from having an exhaust like that, as already mentioned, it reduces the amount of bends in the exhaust, helping performance. Generally, Honda guys have them angled because the canisters are too big to fit straight under the ass end of the vehicle, or because they just hacked the old exhaust off and didn't fab a new one correctly. Before you go throwing an angled fart can under your car, ask yourself, what would ricers do? then slowly answer that question and run as fast as possible in the other direction!
