doesnt make sense

if the lap got a better intake and exhaust manifold... why arent we putting down better numbers STOCK then the l61 is with the 2.4 intake manifold and lsj exhaust manifold? both are the number one mods for power on the l61. and maven has to get banned right when i have a good question.

seems like the issue would have to either be in the tune or the cams. but yes the l61 kicks the lap's butt.

You do put down better numbers. I think GM says stock LAPs have 5HP more that stock L61s.

The answer you are looking for is Emissions Controls Equipment.

It's not just SAI. There are other physical and electronic systems that will choke power in order to improve emissions.

i need to talk to maven again about the cams. and i dont want to touch the head... it flows good enough... the tune would be the biggest thing i need. i have full exhaust now. nothing else i can think of mod wise. i DO wish i knew about how much power a tune would give me

A "good" tune, and true full exhaust(header/dp) is all you reallly need. The early LE5 intake might offer some gains but it hasnt been verified yet. Cams would be a waste of money, because it would be so incredibly expensive and time consuming to engineer a set that would offer any real improvement over the stock ones. it would be much more likely theyd screw things up than help. I dont know if the LE5 cams have better power making capabiliites, but they might.

according to maven the le5 cams will give some gains... but its unknown. i know there are cams for the le5 that we can use. i have full exhaust its just not in my sig. i wonder if the early 2.4 tb will give any gains though

lol at people comparing L61 to the LAP...big deal

2.4 is still slightly larger than the LAP manifold and with the LSJ exhaust manifold of course its going to be faster

this site is officially SHITTY...it was crappy before but you ban one of the most knowledgeable members? wow

the best i could find was CED testing an 07 L61 5 speed with GMPP intake and exhaust and it pulled 139whp 140wtq

i would say that stock is probably around 130whp/135wtq. just a guess though.

makes sense to me that the l61 with exhaust and intake make about the same as the lap, seeing how i hear the only diff is the lap has better intake and exhaust from factory

sound about right. so in reality with the same exact intakes and exhaust i would imagine that the motors make nearly the exact same horsepower and torque.
