the DUAL EXHAUST!
ok so I noticed that some but not to many cobalt’s out there have a dual out let exhaust but most if not all the time have the HUGE fart cans for the set up.. I have a muffler delete and its only about a 3'' outlet and I was thinking if I kept it around that size and have a dual outlet exhaust done it wouldn’t look nor sound bad.
Any one here have any thoughts??? thanx

ok thats what i was wondering cause the Y pipe would be put in almost at the very end of the exhaust. also one more question going catless and have a header would also hurt in the HP zone? basicly straight piped with a header ;p

This may be a very noob like question but I am trying to learn as much as I can about the different upgrades or performance parts for the cobalt. But why would putting a dual outlet exhaust hurt a N/A engine? How does it rob it of HP? Would a dual outlet exhaust have any negative/positive effect on a Forced induction engine?
I just got my 2nd cobalt, my first one was totaled in an accident and I am more interested in performance upgrades this time around. I couldn't find a cheapish SS around me, actually there wern't many in my area to begin with so I settle for a 2009 Cobalt Coupe LT. Basically all the questions I asked are directed towards the LAP(2009 cobalt correct?) engine.

I completely agree with 06_cobalt. for instance, my fancy dancy truck i got for six hundred bucks which now has a small block v 8 should have 3 inch exhaust true duals. ( oh noes I does has it) with two cherry bombs, one for each side. but a cobalt, that's a no go. there's no real need other than looks to put dual outlet exhaust on a cobalt.

for a car with only one possible way to exit exhaust, dual pipes wont really gain you anything. The only time when it does is if you run a v6 v8 or v10 or v 12 motor, an inline motor wont gain from a dual exhaust. and when you run a v motor, what you're looking for is where to put the h pipe to cross between the two exhausts, at that calculated point you will gain the most power per pipe. If you're running an inline motor with only one pipe coming out, then you have no reason to split it into two pipes other than looks. I did all the research on this topic a couple months back when i put dual exhaust on my truck.
