LAP and 89 octane

Does anyone know if this motor would benefit from 89 octane with breathing mods?

IE: intake , shorty header, downpipe and 2.5" exhaust?

thanks

No it won't benefit at all because the computer isn't tuned for it so it won't up the timing or anything past stock levels.

You really need a tune for 91 octane.

Not true, putting a full tank of higher octane gas in a vehicle once in a while will help clean up carbon deposits.. That will at the same time help your gas mileage. It won't help for power, because you need to tune the car for it though. And new cars that don't have tunes will automatically adjust itself to run the stock AFR so higher octane ONLY helps clean it when it's not tuned.

All of the fuel when they make it is 85 octane. They then put additives in the fuel to make it a higher octane. If you put a fuel with higher octane than require by the factory you get preignition which is real bad for your engine. Regular fuel is the cleanest fuel to burn. It leaves less carbon build up than midgrade or premium.
