Gene's 2.2 LAP Supercharger Build

That is a very good idea. Thanks for that.
The electronics is in the throttle body. I believe the oven to bake on the powdercoat gets up to over 400 degrees and it seems as if it was too much for the throttle body. I installed the new one on Saturday and took it for a spin and all was well. I will drive it to work tomorrow and see what happens.
As MP81 mentioned in another thread, you have to purchase the 8 pin connector and then rewire as he gave you.

Hi everyone i'm new here. I'm attempting to do the supercharger build on my 09 Cobalt LS. I'm 90% of the way done but i can NOT figure out how to wire the 8 pin pigtail connector with the LSJ throttle body to my cars 6 pin harness. i'm pretty sure someone may have answered this before but seem to just keep getting confused for some reason. How do i make it work. I have the ZZPerformance 2.2/2.4 supercharger kit. This is the only tough thing i have left to do. Well to me anyway. Thanks.

Thats what i had was the 8 pin connector. And i wired it exactly how he said and my car ran (sorta). It idles but really really rough. I'll try checking my wires and see if i soldered them wrong just in case. otherwise i don't know what it could be.

Spark Knock = Detonation. You can hear it, it's a really fast ticking noise, generally.
If you're not knocking, there's no need for colder plugs. I'd suggest a stage colder, though. Gene went with coppers, I got Iridiums. It doesn't matter which you go with. Iridiums last longer and work just as well, but cost a lot more.

if you're boosted, you should have a way to monitor knock, or a very safe tune. Go a stage colder than stock, but stock size. coppers conduct better and are cheaper, but you have to replace them more frequently (many with boosted motors replace them every other oil change (or every change depending on how long you go)). many also just pay the premium to get iridiums and less maintenance

This seems like a pretty complicated build. Not so sure I could handle a S/C build. Any suggestions from ones that have tried to ease my troubled mind and make me feel as if the parts I've got so far weren't a waste of money.

Its not gonna get anymore straight forward than this IMO so good luck if you want boost lol
The hardest thing about this build seriously is just collecting parts. You shouldn't have issues since its been done so many times on the Cobalt.
And if you're in doubt just get in touch w/ some local buddies man I'm sure they'll help you out

its gonna take a few tries to get your tuning right (assuming you're going with Trifecta). that can be a little annoying but at that point you aren't really doing anything other than logging the car.

Sounds like a sweet idea. Not to be lazy or anything, but anyone know of a complete parts list? Or point in the right direction because my knowledge on what's necessary for a kit is very very slim.

the OP has an entire post list. I'm sure if you asked him rearry nice he'd send you a copy. ha ha. I've lost the list he sent me twice and now I'm waiting till I have the cash to ask for it again so I can start this damn build. ha ha. It's 100% officially decided I'm sticking with supercharging my cobalt.

you should have everything you need to know, including the parts list.

Hello All,
Thanks for answering while I was away. You guys can email me any time for the list. If you don't it is just going to waste away and eventually be deleted from my archives, lol. It was tough, but I had to let the G5 go. It is now with its new owner and I'm sure the new owner is enjoying beating the daylights out of it.
It only took about a month to sell it in the dead of winter and I got all of my money back for it, including the supercharger build. The car had 14,000 miles on it and was in near perfect condition so I didn't see it being too hard to sell.
I've had the love for the new Camaro ever since they came out. I wanted to wait at least a year until they were out to get one used with low miles so someone else could take the financial new car hit. I started looking pretty hard at them in December. Since I'm a dealer I can get them at the dealer auction and in the dead of winter it is most easiest to get them the least expensive.
January 15th I pulled the trigger on an Inferno Orange 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS. It was a GM show car, you know where they take it around to events to show people what they look like? It has 13,000 miles on it and I saved over 8 grand off retail. Since then I've been mod crazy on it.
Since I sold my 2004 GTO I just have missed that raw, in your face, horsepower. The G5 all decked out could pull hard, but nothing like I'm experiencing now. With over 425 horsepower new, I can easily be at 500 shortly.
I will continue to support the Cobalt forum here and support you guys with whatever you need to get your SC build going.
I sold the car mostly as is as I didn't want to ruin anything. I only have the Cand Red powder coated LSJ throttle body for $75 and the pulley boys tension relief tool for $60.
Thanks,
Gene.
