vvt cams
Damn vvt. Its not even worth the 5 hp gain over the previous 2.2 when you look at how much it hinders the ability to make more power.... hell i may as well swap on a cavy head throw stage 2 comp cams in and lock out the vvt.
the l61 head wont work due to the oil passages in the block i believe the lap/le5/lnf all share the same block. buy a le5 and throw in there. and swap your ecm. if your willing to swap to a l61 you might as well pick up an lsj (just as much work and a lot more power)
LE5 and LAP head are the same bare P/N which means the casting is the same. they should swap physically.
However. i do not know if the deck heights are different which wont allow the ZZP cams to work. the valves may be too close to the top of the piston

LAP has a shorter stroke
^ right. i had posted in teh other thread about that. shorter stroke, same bore adn head P/N seems to me that there should be no issue, assuming that with the shorter stroke, and less compression that the piston doesnt come up any higher than the 2.4's
i seen it over there. thats as far as the valve clearance issue, i dont have the numbers for the LAP duration but im sure its shorter as for a 2.4 would almost have to be open longer for the .2 liter difference. the cams themselves are diffrent part numbers, it may also be that the refrence for the position sensor is diffrent allowing for mistiming or over/under compensation when tuning
My brother told me is the same head they should fit and a shorter stroke wouldn't affect it. Buy since he knows more on v8s i wanted to ask here haha. I told him about the guy that bent all his valves and told me they did not get the timing right and it shouldnt happen. Anyone got the specs of both engines to see what the differences are? I might give it a go if my brother approves lol.
