08 Sport 2.4L Owners

Any Sport owners want to try installing the 06-07 SS 2.4L one-piece intake to see if it fits and works. We need someone to buy one and try it out. The throttle bodies are different part numbers too, so need to find out if the 08 TB fits the 06/07 SS 2.4L intake too. The 08 2.4L has a smaller 2-piece intake similar to the 2.2.

Any Sport owners willing to take a stab at this and let CSS.net users know the outcome?

Theoretically yes, because the ports are larger allowing for some increased air flow. Also it would be interesting to see what the difference in the TB is -- if there is any difference. Can someone with an 08 Sport measure their TB on the inside?

Yes it is the 06/07 SS 2.4L manifold. The 08 Sport 2.4 does not use it -- it has a smaller 2-piece glued-together manifold like the 2.2 does. And the TB is a different part number too.

Ok, i get you. If it DID fit, I dont think i'd believe in any H/P gains to be honest, Not enough for 250 bucks.. But hey.. Lets start donating money and i'll try it out
It would be fun to give it a shot, I'm just too uncertain..

I don't know if Chevy just wanted the 1-piece manifold on the SS 2.4L version or if it is because the 08 2-piece manifold is cheaper to produce.

Call CED in the morning 1-800-441-5150 and ask them. I bet you'll need the PCV plate too -- but hopefully everything else will be the same.

not really sure about the CEL, i heard it uses a different throttle body too so it might be tricky to hook that up.

I think the manifold itself will run $100+ -- the 2.2 guys can use the SS 2.4L manifold without CELs (CED sells their kit so that the 2.2 owners can continue to use their TB and the brake boost hose is different on 2.2s). You won't need the kit, but as I posted before you may need the PCV plate -- if the 08 manifold has a drilled PCV hole like the 2.2 manifold does.

If it gains the same as the 2.2 engines, anywhere from 5 to 21 HP depending on whos dyno you look at. Chances are it will increase top end the most -- but not low end power.

hmm i think you'll get better gains spending the same money else where like header and stuff ....assuming yours is already better than the 2.2 intake manifold

This isn't a stand-alone item, but it will compliment all other add-ons.

that's true....but what i meant was getting the mod as a stand alone, other mods might make a bigger difference for the price
