2.0 supercharger on 2.4?
I tossed the turbo idea for my cobalt and thought that it was too much of a risk and an expense. So I was wondering, could the 2.0ss/sc supercharger fit onto the 2.4l? Because I've seen it done, but I'm not sure what else might be needed

I'm having a hard time figuring out what makes a turbo a big risk, but not a supercharger? I understand the expense part, and absolutely a supercharger is a more budget friendly choice.

It's just that more people blow up turbos and burn up the motors. And idk. Just easier to install and with the high miles, I'd rather have an engine that I dont have to take apart so that I can add a turbo

Blowing the motor is still a concern with a supercharger, I can remember several threads people posted about it. The supercharger is a little milder than a big boost turbo, you're still going to have to keep a close eye on things to make sure you don't make the motor go boom. High miles is always a crap shoot as to how stout the engine is going to be when you add boost.

I think that people assume turbos are unsafe because many people doitwronglikethis. There is not really any choices to make with a supercharger kit other than a pulley. Most people don't go very low on 2.2s.
Even though this is a bunch of 2.2L cobalts, pretty much everything will be the same for you:

I collected a lot of build threads that should pretty much answer all of your questions.

You most certainly cannot drive on the stock tune having added a supercharger. You WILL blow something up, if the engine even starts.
Parts can run as little as... $1,800 if you know where to find them. That's just a ballpark figure. Installing a supercharger should be something you and a friend can do in a weekend if you've done plenty of research, save you a **** ton on labor costs.

I think there's a way to drive the car with the blower installed but you need to rig it up basically so there's no boost. I would count this as a "no option" option. Where the car sits when the kit goes on is where the car should be tuned. You can order remote tuning from some people/companies or you can hire someone to come to you. You will never get a better tune than when an experienced tuner is sitting in your car.
^Do NOT plan on the install being one day or even two. If you don't know whats needed for the install, you better plan on taking your time and/or finding some buddies, especially if this is your DD. Keep in mind that once you do this, you will eventually run into some kind of issue that causes down time. How long can ya live without this car?

I just supercharged my 2.2
the engine will start and run rich. and you should not get any CEL's ( i didnt)
i was able to drive it in and out of my garage to my driveway no issues (afr's running around 14's on idle and base driving in and out of my garage with no tune)
now im not suggestings pulling out of your driveway and driving around the block, but your safe enough to pull in and out of your garage.
My build for a 2.2 including gauges and a tune ran me $2700 cdn. that includes all shipping and border fees. I also opted to purchase a griffin heat exchanger, option b and dual pass upfront to complete all my cooling mods ahead of time and not was extra cash slowly upgrading after.
i installed my the stock ss/sc air box and griffin heat exchanger the weekend before my swap so it cut down on the main install time.
the day of the install it took about 6hrs for me and my buddy to complete the complete swap. plus tuning the next day
