2.4 auto shift points
just like the title says, what are the 2.4 auto's shift points stock?
and for those of you that are tuned what have you found to be the best mph to shift at each gear. i just recently got my ZZP midlength and catless DP in and put it on yesterday as well as getting my custom exhaust put on. i also have the K&N typhoon intake. so i was just wanted to know what i should tell my trifecta tuner to tell Vince.
i'm an 08 btw
i found this thread to be very interesting
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/08-cobalt-2-2l-auto-trans-trifecta-tune-review-204346/
anyone?
anyone, 2.2 guys can chime in as well.

i guess for stock shift points it depends if ur launching the car Low or ur talking about just plain Drive. for drive im not 100% but id say 6300 rpms which deff not getting as much out of the car as possible. In Low i think you can get it to 6500 with a bit of a firmer quicker shift im not tuned yet either so i dont know about the best shift points or whatever but i am also interested in getting my auto 2.4 trifecta tuned so ill be watching this thread to see other people's input on a tune for us autos.

Im untuned for now but my shift points seem to depend on which part of the selector im in.
D = 6500 rpm shifts every gear.
I = 6500 rpm shifts every gear.
L = 6700 rpm shift in 1st then 6500 every gear after.

like in HPT isn't there a table that shows you the MPH at which you shift at or does the table only show the RPMs that you shift at?
and yes i would like to figure out the way to make my car as quick as possible by switching the gearing around. like how most 6 speed auto cars the first gear is really short, which would really benefit our cars because IMO first sucks ass. 2nd and 3rd aren't too bad but you have to make it through first lol.

Gearing has to do with the internals of the transmission and it would not benifit you now to short shift the car as you would make the next gear be way out of the motors power band.
We are a 4 speed so gears will always be longer then a 6 speed. Increasing the shift trans line pressure and raisning the rev limiter will benifit you more for quicker accel and faster times overall.
And yes HPT i believe you enter in what mph you want it to shift at. At least thats how I remember doing it when we tuned mine.

This is a really dumb question but I have 1-2-D so lets say I put it in 1 and just leave it. Will it still shift automatically or do I need to shift it up to 2 and then D?

IIRC leaving it in 1 in your 05 will take you through first and shift into second at redline but im not sure if it will take third. i usually pop it into "2" or "I" for me.

Putting it in "L" it'll shift between 1st and 2nd. Putting it in "I" it's shift between 1st-3rd. D will do all the gears.
