The 2.4 SS rare?

Hey guys...

Just outa curiosity, last week, after picking up an emblem for my Monte Carlo, I decided to paruse the Chevy dealership. I noticed the absolute abundance of Cobalt LS's and things. They had probably 2 or 3 SS s/c's, one in which someone was getting ready to test drive. However, I didn't see any 2.4 SS's. None. I mean, at the dealership where I actually bought my 2.4 SS, they had 2 other ones. They had to order mine in from somewhere else. The one in the showroom had everything but the Pioneer stuff. lol. But I've only ever seen 1 other SS n/a around here, and it's black too. There's 2 SS s/c's around here, one of which dates a girl right by me. So I've seen him alot at the redlights. We rev up all the time. It's great fun.

So basically, I was just wondering if they didn't make many SS n/a's, or if just noone's buying them, or if it's just MY area, or just what the scoop is. If they're not really selling, maybe we might have a rare car. The ONLY year for SS n/a's.

I've seen the opposite around the 'Burgh. I've seen probably twice as many 2.4s as I've seen 2.0s. Same at dealers...where were you looking? The ones I've seen have usually 5 or more 2.4s (mixed between coupe/sedan). I've only seen 3 other s/c's on dealer lots.

Obviously there's gonna be more n/a's than s/c's.

But I don't know. I've seen 2 s/c's around me, and 2 n/a's...and I'm one of them.

* shrugs *

I guess not then. haha!

My SS/SC is so rare around here that it has to come from another dealer nearly 200 miles away.

On the other hand EVERY dealer around here has at least a couple 2.4SS's most of them having auto trannies.

The Pontiac Pursuit GT's are also VERY easy to find.

There's like 5 2.4 ss's sitting in the dealership next to me. They've been sitting there for quite some time too. I'm trying to convince my dad to buy my mom and auto 2.4 in yellow so that 3 members of our family would have yellow cobalts. But no go There is a white 2.4 ss in my town. A girl owns it and I saw her on the highway twice. Played around with her but too much traffic. I really want to race one to see the difference.

I have seen about 5-6 S/C and 2 SS cars. But thats objective. Checking dealer lots most 2.4L SS have the auto. So while it may be rare where you live---its not rare.

Except mine!! Cause you can only get a granite blue 2.4L SS in Canada!

I drove a 5spd 2.4 SS's and liked it very much. It doesn't seem to have a sweet spot, the power band seems very smooth and gradual imo.

It's funny how I'm buying an SS/SC even though I've never driven one but drove the 2.4 instead.

I'm sure I won't be dissapointed.

BTW. You almost made me buy a yellow one, it was my second choice. NICE!

Yeah yellow is nice. But to be honest, it's starting to grow old on me. I'm kinda regretting it. I'm starting to like the red and silver a lot. And I LOVE that new lazer blue. (even though some people think there's no difference than the arrival blue, there is)

I see more HHR's than sssc and ss combined around here. There are lots of 2.2 cobalts, but I have only seen a couple ss/sc and no ss. I just saw 2 HHR's alone today. I like them, but they are just too small, or at least smaller than what I expected.
I see **** loads of ss and sssc at the dealers. I will probably be the first one in my county to get an ss. GO JEFF Co!

Around in MI I see lots of LS's/Some LT's, maybe 6 or 7 SS N/A's (lot of them sitting on a lot) and once in a great while I am blessed to see an SS/SC. What's cool is that I've seen maybe 3 SS/SC since I've owned mine (except for when we had a meet in the summer) that's the most I seen at any given time.

SS/SC is going to be quite rare when they stop producing. Numbers seem low

I just bought a SS in Ottawa, Canada and they also had to order mine in from another dealership.

Quite surprised about this.

On another note, quite anxious to pick up the car tomorrow at 1PM!

You and I keep seeing the same one, I've seen that one twice.

Since March I've seen:

1 yellow SS/SC
1 orange SS/SC
1 (possibly 2, can't tell if it's the same driver) blue SS/SC other than mine
2 red SS/SC (I THINK one of those was a n/a SS posing as an SS/SC though, but can't be positive)

Total: 5

I see the n/a SS all over the place, but they're hard to spot when you're moving cause it takes a second to tell which it is. I've seen 5 in Penn Hills alone, I've seen probably another 5 or 6 around Monroeville.

I've only seen 1 silver S/C on the road, and 0 at the dealerships.
Had to drive over 100 miles to test drive the SS 2.4. They had about 10 on the lot, but I’ve not seen another SS 2.4 since then. Except for the 1 that sits in my garage.
Base Cobalt’s are all over central Illinois.

I'd much prefer not seeing many others, makes owning your own more "special"

that red one may have been me since i have the ss/sc ground effects and wing, not posing but it just looks alot better imo and i told the dealer i wouldnt buy the 2.4 ss if it didnt look like that, anyway ill have the power to back the looks up this spring hopefully anyway so dont worry about that, anyway i live in monroeville but i guess the other ss's evade me all the time lol

No the fake SC I saw was up in North Hills. It had aftermarket wheels, that's what threw me but they did a ricer fly-by on 279 and either they had the quietest supercharger on the planet or it was a fake.

I usually see the ones in Monroeville by the mall, so they're probably not local. I've seen a white one out that way 2 or 3 times near Lowe's. I saw a laser blue one in Homestead today. I see the Penn Hills ones usually along Rodi Road, but I've seen a couple right on 22.
