2.4 Troublesome p0172 and Tc light/hard shifting
Been trying to track this ****** down for a while
G/f has her emissions test tommorow n I need to fix this
Any body have any ideas?
I've changed the actuators a while ago
Just changed the injectors.
I get a pending p0172 when left to idle for about 5mins
And the Tc light pops on n get hard shifting.
Any help would b appreciated
Anymore info I could provide to help?

stock tune? how many miles? primary o2 could be going/gone
could also be map/maf, trying cleaning the maf that never hurts. do you have hp tuners?

Stock tune almost 200k km
Looked at the voltage on the o2 sensors and was told there fine by a gm mech
Cleaned the maf sensor and it was replaced last year
I don't have hp tuners but I have the dash command app lets me check into things can't change um
Tho
Was told it was most likely a leaky injector so I changed um ltfts are at -19.0

Tc light(pending p0172 code) pops on after driving after a while, when the car is stopped and in park n left to idle for a few mins, but if I put it in drive, foot on the brake it'll turn off after bout 3 mins or so, put it back in park, Tc light will pop back on.
i am trying to understand the 0172 ( rich condition) and the "hard shifting" TC light; its an automatic; I wonder if they are unrelated and if ice build up is an issue. Is it 100% stock or do you have an aftermarket intake? Also throwing parts at it doesnt work you have been doing that. Its a direct injection motor, and it worries me a bit, normally aspirated DI engines at that mileage could well have coked inlet valves...cant help u right away, dont have a tech 2 handy to do this. Get a conditional pass or something to give you more time and happy birthday to someone. lol
ps I will go get into the manual and follow the fault tree and text u.

The 2.4's aren't direct injection John, this is about his GF's car (2.4), not his TC.
No ABS lights? sounds like the TC light is on due to whatever is causing your rich condition. do you have a laser Temp gauge? check the exhaust ports to see if there is a temperature difference in the cylinder temps.

Guess we all learn something every day John!
So it is definitely a fuel problem. If you were closer I would let you borrow my 2.4 injectors. When you swapped them did you replace them with ones that were the same color? The 2.4 came with two different injectors.
Another easy thing to check would be fuel pressure. It's internally regulated at the pump but if the ball and spring regulator is either blocked or not working for some other reason fuel pressure would be too high causing the rich condition. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the little plug on the fuel rail, it had a black cap.
What about replacing the map sensor? I know it's throwing parts at it but I think I have an old stock 2.4 map laying around somewhere if you can't find one
Try those and let us know!

It's a bone stock 2.4 auto
N yes n e time the tc light comes on it throws a pending p0172 rich code and shifts hard
I assume there related, cel rarely rears its head but cel came back on this morning wit the same p0172
Code with the tc light on.
And no no abs lights on
I think I'm pretty much done dicking around with this car
Think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and bring it to my local mechanic n let
Him worrie about it

Still no luck with this ******* car, mech says the o2 readings r good, says it COULD b the maf but he doubts it, not a vac leak cause its not a lean code it's a rich code, I really dunno where to go from here, my mech had had it for like 3 days, still doesn't know
