bren 8402 what mods do you have done to your car cause there is no way he should beat you

 

i just a muffler lol, i didn't think he would have either but i did have alot of extra weight from my friends and i hope thats the reason maybe i just shifted slow into 3rd cuz like i said 1st through the end of 2nd i had him, and i don't know what mods he had cuz it was like he had instant power maybe i will see him around again and run him

 

They come stock with 180 hp and an 8k red line and plus they weigh less than our cars so i dont see why they wouldnt be about the same if not a lil faster

 

you lost me....the thread was about a V6 Mustang. I don't know where the Celica came from

 

its got more horse but the car should not be near us. i sold cars for toyota so i know them pretty well

So you wound up not racing? Probably better off... My dad bought the 06 Roush Mustang V8...that thing is pretty fast... it's nasty! To top it off... he put a supercharger in it... it's got 500 hp or something like that... I don't really know, but I DO know that he's CRAZY! And... my mom doesn't know... HaHa!!

Just race him 0-60 from a light and 50-80 on the highway... I don't think anyone's asking you to do a 1/4th mile. Heck... a 1/8th mile in the 2.4 is only 70MPH or so.

most are running real low 15's with the autos stock and some manuals running 14's stock....if you live in southern michigan i'd be happy to race you, leave me a message on the mustang forums and i will definately come race any of you.



p.s. don't get me wrong i think your car is great, and i don't want to rip on you or anything, you just either have WAY too much false information, or you are completely ignoring the facts.

i would stay away from any type of nitrous

 

+1 stay away from nitrous, unless you really knoww hat you are doing with it. Nitrous is not a good idea for daily drivers because you WILL want to use it, and it is dangerous to get nitrous happy.

 

Why don't you just find the lyer and get niTrous and get him to take off his bottle and triCk him into being skooled by a freaken chevy owner .

 

I didn't come here to bag on your cars or anything, i actually signed up when i was looking for a car and test drove a S/C SS and was very impressed, but you guys won't smoke the new v6, at all, the top modded times I've seen here for the n/a 2.4 5-sp when modded is about equal of a v6 auto stock. Here's the C&D report on the new v6 auto, 5sp hits high 14-15 flat about stock.

Cobalt weight, 5sp-2990 lbs
Mustang v6 weight, 5sp-3370 lbs

And RWD vs FWD. The weight advantage you guys have isn't big enough to overcome the v6's hp and tq advantage.

 

Honestly I can't understand why people are even comparing the cobalt to the mustang, they're in two completely different classes. One's a full size muscle type car and the other is a sports compact, that's designed to target others in it's class like the Corolla,Civics, Focus, Mazda 3's, etc.

 

People compare them bc people race/want to race them. In the Mustangs case, its kinda like you're damned if you do and damned if you dont. If the Mustang wins, its supposed to bc its not in the same class as the Cobalt, but its ok if the Cobalt loses. If the mustang loses, it just lost to a Cobalt.

The way I look at it, if you're gonna race another car, there are no classes, no excuses, run what you brung and have fun doing it. Take it like a good sport win or lose.

 

there is NOTHING wrong with using nitrous on a regular basis or using it often

you take no more of a risk using nitrous than you do supercharging or turbocharging your car.
