2.4L Hahn Turbo Kit Application (08' Malibu)

I just purchased a 2008 Malibu with the 2.4L Ecotec, (same as Cobalt Sport)

Thinking about puchasing the Hahn turbo kit for the 2.4L application.

Question is.....I should have the room to install it correct?

The Malibu bay can accomadate the 3.6....so I should be good.

Prolly going with a soft tune, arond 5 PSI. Should get me to 3.6L numbers.

Any thoughts.

Some of the parts may need to be modified to fit. Not sure how similar the engine bay is.

Not sure what transmission the 08 malibu comes with. if its not the 4T45e that comes in the cobalt, the geometry and therrefore charge pipe routing will be different.

Why didn't you just get the 3.6? That way you would have also gotten a 6-speed auto...

Well it was a matter of their supply and my demand.

The chevy dealerships in Indianpolis were limited in their supply in Malibu's, and there was one LTZ, but it had the ugly brown and tan interior......thats a no-go to me, plus it was 28K.

Plus the 2.4L pulls this car well. Even on the highway.

Lastly, I totaled my last car before I went to Korea (im in the Army) so I didn't have time to wait. I am on leave till Jan 2. I got back on the 1st December, needed a car pronto.

To be honest, I don't need the turbo.....i have the money to burn,

Ill call hahn first thing in the morning and let you all know.

If I do it, Ill keep you all update with install pics and of course dyno numbers. I will not be going to the track with it.

Be a neat mod for sure. That car with that engine needs all the help it can get! Must have a good 500lbs on a 2.4 Cobalt

It does indeed, but as I said, the 2.4L carries it pretty good, im definatley not racing past anyone when passing, but it could be worse, *cough* (2.2L 05-07 Malibu) *cough*.

If I could break 230 at the wheels, I'd be more than pleased. A turbo setup with 4-5 psi boost should get me there.

UPDATE

Hahn, said it should be no problems, although some extra $$$ will be needed for a malibu tune.

Also, I have the same auto tranny as the 'balts, so im good there.
