2.4l tranny fit in 2.2l ls (AUTOMATIC)

im looking to get a beefier tranny for my 2.2l ls automatic, blew my stock tranny. ive heard the 2.4l tranny will fit, is this true?

The 4T45E transmission is in both the 2.2 and the 2.4

^^^ The auto's have the same gear ratios and final drive ratio in the 2.2 and 2.4 afaik. Same tranny in a G6 base model has a shorter final drive ratio, other applications have taller ratios.

To the op - you won't gain anything by pulling a tranny out of a 2.4 car, they are the same.
They really can handle some power - 200+ ft/lbs iirc.

If you can get one out of a G6 base model, they have a 3.91:1 final drive as opposed to the 3:63 as used in the Cobalt - little better acceleration but a little worse mileage
