2.4L turbo question
2.4L turbo question
I am looking at the 2.4l hahn turbo kit and just had a couple of q's. im fairly new to the turbo **** so,... what kind of exhaust setup are you using, catback and high flow cat etc... what all did you have to purchase other than the actual kit from hahn, and did you install yourself,... or take it to a shop? and info would be greatly appreciated. Josh
im running a corsa 2.5 inch touring catback and a 3 inch zzp downpipe with a high flow 3 inch cat. had it installed and tuned at a local shop but have 60# injectors and 11 psi instead of the way it comes.
I'm running a GMPP Performance exhaust (2.5) with stock DP & cat.
I believe you should be able to run even a complete stock exhaust fine.
The only problem I've had with with mine is a bit of hesitation and sometimes misfires on cold starts. After the car warms up it's good. I think this has to do with the fuel pressure regulator the Hahn kit uses. It's also been greatly reduced since changing plugs to LTRZ5A-13 (or something like that) gapped at .026. That came recommended from Hahn.
If I had to do it over again, I would've probably more closely considered buying the Garrett 2.2L kit and having the fuel management dyno tuned.
Only other major problem it's gotten is a ticket from a Trooper a couple of weeks ago
.
Edit - One other tip. You'll want to get in there and move any hoses, a/c lines or random pieces of metal out of the way that are remotely touching your i/c piping. Surprisingly a piece of pipe rubbing against a radiator hose constantly can actually wear down the metal and give you a boost leak. I just wrapped all my touch points in some high temp tape as a solution.

I asked hahn a while ago. They didnt get back to me on it. Mine misfire cold but do it alot less or not at all when fully wrmed up. Im gapped at .040 though.
Well, my bogging is completely gone. Here's what I did... FUEL FILTER.
No ****, right? Well, guess what - I hadn't changed it since I bought the car. I was planning to when we did the turbo install (since that was around 30k miles) and I guess we forgot.
Anyhow, that bastard was nasty, rusty fuel came out.
I'd say try that, and the new plugs... and make sure you're running enough pressure. If you haven't set your BFR on a dyno, try it.
EDIT - Yeah, 0.040 is WAY to big. Hahn actually recommended 0.030, my turbo mech here said go to 0.026 since I'm apparently pushing close to 10 psi (vice the intended 8). Same plugs though. They're REX or SRT or something plugs, can't remember, just check NGK's site. If you can't find them, let me know. I ran the stock gap for about the first 500 miles just to try it out, ran like shitty-****.

A turbo gear Web site that sells Hahn kits for Solstice ... different turbo, but same engine, same PSI:

Yes we like to see .030”
Let me know what exactly you are seeing once this is complete.
Also you have 93 octane fuel in the car correct?
