Question CO2 - Meth - N2O - Nitro

Okay I am wondering what are the pros and cons for all three on a NA engine.

They all basically do the same thing, they cool the intake temperatures and makes the air more dense. Meth is the only flammable product due to the bit of alcohol that is in it, N2O itself is not as with CO2.

So on a NA engine what would be helpful? What would hurt?

Also looking at Snow Performance, they have a nitromethane additive to their water/methanol injection system.

honestly dont think CO2 will help much unless your FI. Not sure about Meth. Obviously Nitrous is good ****, but dangerous if you are a noob....

What really got me interested is the nitro mixture that Snow Performance has that you add to the water/meth injection. I think that if I do that I will be the only one on that set up.

Does anyone know what (roughly) the stock A/F ratio is? also how hard is it to install a wideband?

no meth on an NA engine-no need for it, co2 is usually used to cool intake charge temps on boosted cars, nitrous is a great power adder and i recommend it!

I wouldn't spray CO2 into the intake though...If im correct that would take the place of much needed oxygen for the combustion cycle...

CO2 would be more for spraying into your intercooler or one of those intake chiller boxes.

The reason I was looking at the meth was simply so I could add the Nitro mixture. And it is cheaper then nitrous and from what I have read more "stable" also. Nitrous and Nitro don't need tunes and both work in the same ways. But Nitro is an all in one item where you have to "on the fly" mix nitrous with fuel. As of right now I am just trying to get info. I don't know of any cobalts that are on nitro no matter how little. But anyone with a meth kit could add nitro to it.

you don't there is a tear drop shaped thing that sits in the intake tube that you spray the CO2 into that chills the IATs

lol. sorry, i roam around a lot.
Wouldnt meth have the added benefit of being an octane booster? so you can run more timing with meth, even when NA? You wouldnt really need a meth/water mix tho, since you wouldnt need water to do any cooling. Just straight meth

octane booster...eh, only a little higher. i dont even know how it would activate on an NA car since most are boost activated by the map sensor

well it would be Snow Performance's Juice Boost so meth plus whatever they put in it. But again my main use for that would be to add the nitro into the mixture.

I am looking at that also but right now the meth/water/nitro mix is 4-500 dollars cheaper then nitrous. It also isn't as common and seems more plug and play.

meth alone does very little for NA engines... however, the proper mixture of water/meth doubled with n2o can do some very good things for you, (water injection helps to deter knock, fyi).

co2 will do very little for you, considering, again- you are only NA.

good luck

yeah I try and drive slowly, and if I get nitrous the bottle will not always be in the car. unlike with the meth/water/nitro mixture which will always be in the car.

Is it a base kit? I am pricing a new kit with some goodies. I have a thing against used products.

I would get button happy, but I think the biggest reason I am leaning toward W/M/N is b/c i want to be different.

I will wait until all these nitrous 2.4 guys run and see where they are at. Then I will make a final choice. So hurry up and get to the track guys.
