As soon as I know about any "Stage kits" you'll know too.
The QUAD4 was discontinued because there was newer technology available and it was being outclassed.(water pupm placement on ECOtec is similar to Q4 and as on Q4 doesnt require engine dissasembly)
The new 2.4L LE5 is very similar to the 2.0 and 2.2 excpet for its displacement and the variable valve timing. Basic mods will work just as well as on the L61 and LSJ but more computer tuning(than L61/LSJ)will be necessary to get the most out of the engine with more aggressive mods, aftermarket cam selection will also be much more critical on this engine.

Mine is coming in 5 weeks!!
My dealership called me today and they told me that the area manger for the local GM dealerships confirmed that my car will be on the lot in 5 weeks!!! Man I'm so excited. I'll be one of the first to have G85 in Canada!!!
Yea there is one at a dealership here in Ottawa, 2006 Cobalt SS red. At first I thought it was a messed up SS/SC because of the regular wing but then we noticed it had no boost gauge...
I don't like the rear fascia on it as much..hopefully the ss/sc keeps the same bumper as the 2005 model...I still think the front would look better if both bottom and top grills were cut out and replaced with mesh....

I'd guess the s/c one is made out of stronger metals? I heard the s/c one is a shorter shift.

Is there no supercharged option in '06? I saw the new one on the lot at chev and I coudlnt believe that they had change dit already...i swung around to check it out and was dismally surprised....why the changes that fast? I figure that they are getting into a lower pricing situation to sell some more bu tthe new one looks not much different from the regular cobalt?!?!?!?! The spoiler on my '05 vibrates alot in the wind...so I figure thats why that was changed. But the wheels? 17's instead of 18's, less costly, and no visual supercharger...reduction of fun!
Nah... you can get an '06 SS w/ an S/C... in includes the 18" rims and big ole spoiler. Just as the '05s...
I saw and 06 SS Non-SC and didn't like... I really really really didn't like the way the 17" are colored.

I have since investigated this myself....I agree that the non s/c version is little lackluster...the wheels at first I liked.....if they were like my 18"s!!!!!! I love the polished look....just ordered the mkw m-43's in 18's. Chrome. Cant wait for next yr! (reason being I am in nfld, Canada.....we have snow coing for the next 5 months!!! LOL

2 different cars here, 06 ss sc and 06 ss 2.4 N/A. completely different mechanicaly; engine, tranny. visualy- shares side skirts, front bumper w/o valence. different- rear bumper, spoiler, wheels.
suspension is similar, but not identical.
also 2.4 ss comes with armrests; auto tranny option, HEATED leather seats option, audio option too. 2.4 also comes in sedan ss...
