aem intake
i want to install a aem intake.i wanted to install an injen but the part store said that its just a foam filter and its pretty dusty here.my question is if i install the aem and i throw a cel what does it do and how do i fix it.thanks
I have an AEM, and back when I had just the intake under the hood, my CEL came on rarely, and never for very long. (my CEL is now permanantly on due to my de-cat downpipe until I instally my SS/SC injectors and tune it w/ HP Tuners.......soon hopefully)
Watch out in the rain though........if you drive for extended periods of time in the rain, the dryflow filter will get soaked, as it tends to hold water more than a conventional filter. My car was sputtering and coughing about a week ago when I drove a bunch all day long in the pouring down rain........nearly suffocated my engine, I had to pull over and let it sit for a bit, and re-start it. After that though, I was on my way no prob. Simple fix for this: Injen hydroshield. I'm buying one asap.

hey whitessbalt which aem did you install the one for the 2.2 cause they don't make an intake for the 2,4l

you can remove two ways...
1) fix the problem
2) flash it over till it comes one again (reset)
and yes you can run with a CEL... just depends what the code is... if its intake, no problems really

i think i need one too .....even though i dont drive alot in the rain.....you just never know
i have AEM to and no CEL
wow.........are you serious? It seems people already clarified what a CEL is.........but you still haven't figured out what intakes all the 2.4 guys are running? There are no 2.4 specific intakes (Cobalt Addiction currently has one in the works for a 2.4, but its been "coming soon" for a loooong time), so we use the 2.2 Cobalt intakes, as our motors are layed out the same and they fit perfectly. (same throttle body size and all). You can install the AEM 2.2 intake, the Injen 2.2 intake, the Fujita 2.2 intake, or hech, even the K&N short ram for the 2.2. Some might throw CEL's b/c they aren't designed directly for our cars, but its just the lean code, and it won't halter your performance. Plus, once you get tuning, you can do away with the pesky codes that come on from aftermarket parts.
Correction, AEM does have a CAI made for the 2.4L, I bought it quite awhile ago actually..... No CEL!!!!!!!
