This is for all the 2.4 auto guys

i've had my car for little over a year now, and i didnt mod it for like the first 10 months or so. But recently ive added gmpp cold air, gmpp perfomance cat back, stage 2 jet chip. It's still seems the same maybe a little better in low rpms but a little less in the high range.

over all not to happy with the so called "gains" but maybe its me i havent driven it stock in like 4-5 months? I would like some thoughts here

btw if yah didnt notice the title its an auto

If you get a B&M shift plus, it will bring some excitement to your car. It'll give you harder shifts instead the lame slow stock shifts.

similar mods on my cobalt...... I was happy with it, but not as happy as I thought I would be.......... then I installed the B+M shiftplus......... and, damn!!! what a difference....... it's simple to install and simple to use, and well worth it!

B&M Shift+ and get a shorty header, more high range power, or it could be the other way around.

Yeah it's only 40 bucks, but it's well worth it. It makes your car feel faster, even though it doesn't really make it faster. It probably drops .04 seconds off your 1/4 time.

reason why you are not happy cuz ur car is not tuned...a tune on these auto cars adds a lot..i would know..been tuned since 5/07..so if u want any information about this..feel free to PM..the auto tune can be a headache as im sure redfocz could tell you..but it takes time and logging to get right...but like i said.any question feel free to pm me

Not to be rude or anything

But we have NA 4-bangers (They are slow!)

I rode in a boosted car, there is no comparison between boost and all motor.

That might be what you are looking for.

i totally understand that power wise on a 4cly, boost is the only way to go but that route really isnt possible for me right now. its an everyday driver putting 4g+ not my idea of fun lol. but thanx for your opinion.

and as for the guys listings the mods thank you as well they wil help in days to come

one of my big things here was the amount i spent compared to how much i "gained" and for sure it wasnt better mpg lol was 27 around town driving now 23.4-24 at best lol how much hp/tq should i have gained with current mods, how about with the shift plus and a tune, header
(i know shift+ doesnt add hp im talking 1/4 times)

You're going to have to learn to enjoy your 2.4 the way it is.

Unless you go SC or TC it's simply not going to give you "smashed into the seat" performance. It is what it is....a quick 4-banger. A quick 6-banger will whip you and a quick 8 cylinder will kill you. Stop comparing your Cobalt to higher HP cars...just isn't going to work. Even if you were to SC or TC it, bigger engined cars will still be able to out perform you.

Your gas mileage is probably more the way you drive....I have many of the mods you list but am getting 26-27 MPG in mixed driving (mostly 45 MPH and a few lights).

no need for a shift kit and a tune..a tune will take care of everything.

I have a 2.4 G5 GT 2008 Auto
with the GMPP Intake and GMPP Touring. I felt gains all thru out the power band, and did not lose anything anywhere. Def faster and stonger then stock thru out the curve. Myabe its the Jet chip messing with things. To date no one has proved thoes things do any good via dyno

I also gain 2-3 MPG with both mods, i dirve it like its stolen and i AVG 25-26 mpg

I have an Injen SRI, GMPP Performance cat-back and a B&M Shift Plus for my solid mods. I also have a ram-air hood that adds a bit extra boost at speed.. I noticed a nice gain after the intake throughout the whole range. The cat-back mostly seemed to free up the mid and high end.. The car always seemed a little choked at the high-end, even with the VVT.. The exhaust took care of that.. I have a Shift Plus, but don't use it often.. I probably should, but I don't usually drive hard enough to warrant it.. My 2.4, as described, kills my friends modded 2.2. His has the GMPP exhaust and intake, 2.4 manifold, etc. But mine takes him easily. And it walks on my girls stock 2.2.. hahahaha.. But really, you can't expect too much.. It's not like you're driving a GTO where you can get away with n/a.. Small motors need to be either fully built or boosted to achieve the power we want.. Simple as that.. The s/c is a great car from driving them, however the 2.4 can hold it's own. My 2.4 got thumbs up from both s/c and t/c owners alike in being able to keep up.. I also use my Intermediate gear as well, to either quickly downshift, or to keep the car from searching on long hills.. I'd also recommend a cooler as well. It's my next mod. I also have the tune file for HPT from Illmatic3s (in this post), and I can't wait to use it.. I know the car will really wake up after that.. I find the car to be pretty descent from a stop or from a slow roll, but the car is very nice on the highway, or when already at speed.. I don't know what you guys think on that..? You can definitely make these motors hold their own, especially against other similar n/a fours, however unless you boost it, I wouldn't expect it to waste any Mustang SVT's or anything any time soon..

well my town driving consist of like 3 1/2 - 4 miles round trip to work
and like i stated in my original post, I've bin adding things in a time line like matter. So i have not drivin it stock in like 4-5 maybe 6 even months! That could play a big role as well or maybee i dont have it fully broke it quite yet only has 9,600 on the clock. I feel some added juice but just doesnt seem like i got as much as i thought i would.
(07redssna you may be on to something with the v-8 thing thats all i have ever driven up to getting this car for gas milage sake? so i may still have v8 on the brain) all in all i was just wondering if any auto felt the same way or if it was just me? thats all thanx for every ones help!

I find my Cobalt far more enjoyable to drive than my Dad's '04 Monte SS n/a.. The Monte might be a touch quicker, but the Cobalt is a much more spirited drive.. Not to mention handles a billion times better..

I said a "quick" 6 banger and a "quick" 8 cylinder car....not "all" 6's and 8's
